Learn how to achieve Gold Medals on Airport Road Rampages in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars using the Bulletproof Cabbie or Rhino.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Follow the sidewalk and turn right at the corner, then head to the main road and turn right.
  2. 2
Go north along the sidewalk and back to the four-way intersection to complete the lap.
  3. 3
Depending on time and vehicle, you can create 60x to 100x+ Chains.

Airport Road (Francis International Airport)

Airport Road is a long north-south road east of the Willis Pay 'N' Spray, bordering Francis International Airport. This road spawns more gang members than nearby streets, and on some Rampages, you can earn 18 points per roadkill instead of the usual three. This point bonus is inconsistent; for example, two out of three Angels of Death Rampages near this road offer 18 points, while one offers only three. This quirk allows for high scores, though you might only achieve around 30x Chains on this street alone, which may not be enough for Gold if you only get three points per roadkill.

Your score depends on travel time, driving skill, and vehicle damage. The Bulletproof Cabbie is recommended because it's faster than most gang cars, except for the Turismo (The Mob), Hellenbach (Triads), Dukes (Spanish Lords), and Jaoming Family (Comet). Gangs may shoot at you en route, damaging your vehicle. Grabbing a gang car takes time, reducing your Rampage window. Parking the Cabbie nearby saves time. Note that the Cabbie may randomly disappear when starting a Rampage if parked too close, but this is infrequent.

The Bulletproof Cabbie is highly suggested for this strategy. While many Rampages are too far, some aggravating ones are close enough to exploit for a Gold Medal.

The PSP version of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars generates fewer targets than the NDS version, affecting these areas. While there are still many targets, there will be significant gaps between groups, making mega-long Chains harder and Gold Medals for distant Rampages more difficult. All car-based strategies assume the Bulletproof Cabbie unless otherwise noted.

Rhino Strategy:

A Rhino can be found at Francis International Airport. To obtain it, enter the checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) race "Fast Tracks," then quickly exit to fail. Take the Rhino to your desired Rampage.

Rhino Downsides:

  • You get three points for killing a gang member but only one point for destroying a vehicle, making long Chains crucial.
  • The Rhino is slow, making it hard to catch other vehicles to maintain Chains. Gang members and Cops can easily pull you out. Driving it to Algonquin takes a long time, and it cannot fit in a garage.
  • Destroyed vehicle remains can block your path, preventing you from hitting targets beyond them to maintain a Chain.
  • A Henchman can get stuck in front of the tank, and since you cannot kill them, firing the main cannon will cause the shell to explode in your face, damaging the tank.

Despite these drawbacks, the Rhino can be useful for a few Rampages. With good driving and blasting, you can achieve just over 4,000 points, making it best for Rampages with low Gold Medal requirements.

  • Bronze Medal: $100
  • Silver Medal: $250
  • Gold Medal: $500

After a Rampage, nearby gang members and your Henchmen will continue to attack. You can be killed by your own Henchmen, so quickly leave the area. Any remaining Wanted Rating will persist, so watch out for the Police.

For fifteen seconds after a Rampage, you can press Select to immediately restart it. This is useful if you end up far from the starting point, allowing a quick restart for a better score.

Tips
  • If you plan to run people over, it's best to drive back to the Rampage with your car.
  • Outrunning the game's ability to spawn more gang members can occur if you go too fast.
  • The Bulletproof Cabbie is highly recommended for its durability and speed relative to most gang cars.
  • The Rhino is slow but powerful, best suited for Rampages with low Gold Medal requirements.
  • Be aware of your Henchmen and Police after completing a Rampage.
  • Use the immediate restart option (Select) within 15 seconds to improve scores.
