Your friendly guide to navigating The Hideaway in Final Fantasy XVI. Check in with Otto, Vivian, Tarja, and more to progress the story and learn about the world.

Alright, so you've just learned about Clive taking on Cid's name, and now it's time to head to The Hideaway. Think of it as your new home base, chilling on some airship ruins. It's a pretty big place with a bunch of stuff to check out, but your main job right now is to catch up with your friends.

As soon as your boat docks, hop on the elevator to reach the main part of the base. Head inside towards the quest marker – you can't miss it. You'll want to chat with Otto first. After he gives you the lowdown on Gav, make your way over to Vivian, the silver-haired lady chilling at a table. She's got a lot to tell you about how the world's changed over the last five years. You can even chat with her again if you want a refresher on who's who and how everyone's relationships have shifted. She'll also break down how the ongoing war has reshaped the world during this time.

Vivian will eventually hand Clive a book to give to Harpocrates. Once you've delivered that, it's time to find Tarja. She's got some big news for you – she managed to remove Clive’s mark! Your last stop is Clive’s own quarters, located near the top of the airship. Inside, you can check out the Trophy Wall and Clive’s desk. Right next to the desk, there's a spot for letters. Interact with it to read Gav’s report. After learning that the Republican Army is on the move, a cutscene will play between Clive and Jill where they discuss their next steps. The scene wraps up after a quick jump to Joshua and then back to Otto, who lets you know that Martha has gone missing. This is your cue that the next quest, 'The Gathering Storm,' is about to kick off.

State of Realm explained: You can pop back to Vivian anytime to get the 'State of Realm' update. This feature has two parts: one that details character relationships and how they've evolved over the years, and another that covers world conflicts. The character section shows you how Clive and the rest of the crew have grown and who they're allied with or fighting against. The world map shows you which countries control which territories and who they're currently at war with.
