Alright, so you're aiming for the Ultima Weapon in Final Fantasy XVI? That's the ultimate goal for sure! Just so you know, you won't find it on your first playthrough. You'll need to jump into a New Game Plus, specifically on Final Fantasy Mode, to even see it at Blackthorne's shop. Once you do, you'll notice it requires a few things to craft, including an Utterance of Creation (which you'll already have) and two other weapons that are initially listed as '???'.

The real challenge comes from needing two specific reforged weapons: the Gotterdammerung Reforged and the Everdark Reforged. You can't even start thinking about crafting the Ultima Weapon until you've beaten Barnabas (Odin) again in The Last King quest during your New Game Plus run.

Crafting the Gotterdammerung Reforged

To get your hands on the Gotterdammerung Reforged, you first need to complete all four Blacksmith's Blues side quests. These are tied to the main story progression, so make sure you tackle them as they become available:

Blacksmith’s Blues: Available when you start the Here Be Monsters main scenario quest.
Blacksmith’s Blues II: After finishing the Letting Off Steam III sub quest during the Out of the Shadow main scenario quest.

Blacksmith’s Blues IV: Available when you start the Across the Narrow main scenario quest.

Once those are done, you'll be able to craft the reforged Gotterdammerung. You'll need these materials:

Flawless Darksteel x2
Flawless Battlehorn x1

Crafting the Everdark Reforged

This one's a bit more involved. To craft the Everdark Reforged, you need to have defeated every single Eikon boss, including Odin, again in New Game Plus. This is because you need materials dropped from their story missions. You'll be collecting these as you progress through the game, so try not to sell any of the Eikon weapons you craft along the way, as you'll need them for the next step. Here's the order you'll acquire them:

Stormcry (Reforged) - Dropped after defeating Garuda.
Flametongue (Reforged) - Dropped after defeating the Infernal Eikon.
Levinbolt (Reforged) - Dropped after defeating the Republican War Panther.
Grindstone (Reforged) - Dropped after defeating Titan.
Brightburn (Reforged) - Dropped after defeating Bahamut.
Icebrand (Reforged) - Obtained after completing the Through the Maelstrom main scenario quest.

On top of those, you'll also need the Flawless Dark Shard from Odin. Once you have all these, you'll have everything needed for the Everdark Reforged.

The Final Step: Crafting the Ultima Weapon

With both the Gotterdammerung Reforged and the Everdark Reforged ready to go, just head back to Blackthorne. Navigate to the Craft menu, select the weapons tab, and there it is – the Ultima Weapon! Congrats on crafting the best sword in the game!
