How to Get the Ragnarok in Final Fantasy 16

Unlike most other weapons, you won't be finding a recipe for this one. Instead, you'll earn it as a reward for finishing up the 'Blacksmith's Blues IV' side quest. This is actually the final part of a series of four quests, so you'll need to tackle the first three before you can even get to the one that nets you Ragnarok.

To kick off this questline, you need to head over to The Mess, near the Counter in the Hideaway. Find August there, and he'll let you know that Blackthorne, your go-to blacksmith, is feeling a bit down in the dumps. Turns out, there's some trouble brewing with the Akashic over in Dravozd, which is Blackthorne's hometown. Here's a little twist: unlike the earlier quests, August suggests keeping this whole situation quiet from Blackthorne for now.

Once you make your way to Dravozd, you'll see a couple of short scenes. Surprise! Blackthorne somehow followed you there and he's not too pleased about being left out of the loop. Your next step is to speak to August again. This will officially start the defense of Dravozd. You'll need to fend off a few waves of Akashic enemies. After you've dealt with them, you'll face the main threat: a Chimera. This boss shares a lot of attacks with the Gorgimera Hunt, so if you've fought that one, you'll have a good idea of what to expect.

After you've defeated the Chimera, head back into Dravozd and chat with Zoltan for another scene. Finally, make your way back to the Hideaway and talk to Blackthorne. He'll wrap things up, and as a reward for your efforts, you'll finally get the Ragnarok weapon!

Now, about the Ragnarok itself: this sword is a beast! It boasts a massive 325 Attack and 325 Stagger. Seriously, keep this weapon safe. Don't even think about selling it once you're done with it, because it's actually a crucial component for crafting the best weapon available during your first playthrough: the Gotterdammerung. And if that wasn't enough, you can then use the Gotterdammerung to forge the Ultima Weapon in New Game Plus.
