Beast Against Beast Side Quest in FFXVI

When to Start: First things first, you'll need to have reached the Hideaway. If you're just starting out, this might take you about 3 hours. If you're coming from the demo, add another hour. Keep playing the main story until you get to the main quest called 'Holding On'.

Finding the Quest Giver: Once you're at that point in the story, make your way to the Greensheaves Sub-Region. Look for an NPC named Fredric, who is a Hunter. Chatting with him is what kicks off the 'Beast Against Beast' side quest.

Heading to the Objective: Fredric will task you with clearing out some wolves that are blocking the path to Eastpool. Your next destination is east, towards Rhia Ride. Before you rush off, take a moment to explore the areas around Rhia Ride. You might find some chests with helpful materials and accessories. Also, don't shy away from fighting any enemies you encounter – it's a great way to build up your Ability Points (AP).

Slaying the Beasts: When you reach the quest objective area, you'll find yourself facing multiple starving wolves. These guys can be a bit much if you try to take them on one by one. The best approach here is to try and group them up. Once they're clustered, unleash your Area of Effect (AoE) abilities, like Garuda's Aerial Blast. After you've hit them with an AoE, quickly weave in some single-target attacks, such as Heatwave, to finish them off efficiently.

Finishing Up: After you've successfully cleared out all the wolves, continue heading up the path. You'll eventually reach an area called The Broken Hilt. Here, you'll find a Vexed Villager. Speak with him and let him know that the path is now clear. This will officially bring the quest to a close.
