Learn the best strategies and recommended abilities to defeat the S-Rank Hunt target, Pandemonium, in Final Fantasy XVI. Includes location and attack breakdowns.

Location: Wolfdarr, Waloed

Level: 45

Bounty: 20,000 Gil, 50 Renown

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Teleport to The Shadow Coast obelisk in Waloed.
  2. 2
Follow the winding path northwest until you reach an intersection leading west.
  3. 3
Take the western path as far south as possible.
  4. 4
You will reach a large gate. As you approach, it will open, and Pandemonium will appear.

Pandemonium’s Abilities and Attacks:

  • Teleport Smash: Pandemonium teleports to your location and slashes downward. Dodge immediately; a Precision Dodge can be achieved by dodging as its weapon swings down.
  • Staff Swipe: A basic melee swipe with its staff, sometimes used after a teleport. Dodging into the attack results in a Precision Dodge.
  • Dark Missiles: Pandemonium charges its staff and unleashes a barrage of dark energy missiles. Keep moving to avoid them, or dodge toward them as they reach you.
  • Dark Explosion: Pandemonium places circular markers on the battlefield that explode after a short delay. Stay out of the marked areas; dodge if caught in one.
  • Sanguine Rite: A large dark orb descends, causing significant damage. Multiple orbs can be cast simultaneously. Evade the circular impact zones on the ground, positioning yourself between them if multiple orbs are present.
  • Rictus of Horror: Pandemonium's signature attack. It charges a beam in its body, teleports, and channels a powerful, multi-hit reddish-orange beam. Move to the side of the beam after Pandemonium teleports, as it targets your last known location. Consider using Will-o'-the-Wykes for protection.

Recommended Abilities:

  • Bahamut: Gigaflare (Damage 5 Stars), Impulse (Damage 2 Stars, Will 3 Stars)
  • Shiva: Diamond Dust (Will 5 Stars), Lightning Rod (Damage 2 Stars, Will 3 Stars) - Place Lightning Rod as the second Shiva ability.
  • Titan: Windup (Damage 4 Stars), Will-o’-the-Wykes (Will 2 Stars) - Master Will-o’-the-Wykes and place it as the second Titan ability.

Ability Setup Notes:

  • Titan's Titanic Block can negate damage, and Windup is powerful. You can substitute Garuda for Titan if you prefer Deadly Embrace, placing Windup on Garuda's bar.
  • A mastered Will-o'-the-Wykes can nullify up to four attacks, making it very potent.
  • Shiva's Cold Snap can Permafrost enemies after a Precision Dodge. Diamond Dust is the strongest Will-Damage attack.
  • Ramuh's Lightning Rod amplifies multi-hit attacks when placed in front of a staggered Pandemonium.
  • Bahamut's Gigaflare is extremely powerful, especially when combined with Lightning Rod at the end of a stagger phase. Impulse can be swapped for Gouge for more Will damage at the risk of animation vulnerability. Wings of Light can be strong, especially when charging Megaflare to level 5 and releasing it just before a stagger.

Recommended Items and Equipment:

  • Weapon: Ragnarok
  • Belt: Rune Belt +2
  • Vambraces: Rune Crescents +2
  • If you do not have these items, equip gear with the highest Attack rating.
