Alright, let's talk about the achievements in Duke Nukem Forever. There are 8 of them to snag, and most of them will come naturally as you blast your way through the game. We'll cover how to get them all, including the trickier ones.

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: (8)

• FBT (+10G / Bronze) - Get knocked down 10 times.

This one's pretty easy and you'll likely get it without even trying. If you're having trouble or just want to grind it out, the 'Queen Bitch' level is your best bet. The Alien Queen has an attack called Psionic Blast that will knock you down if you're close enough. Just try to get knocked down a few times during that fight. It's best to do this on 'Piece of Cake' difficulty, because on higher settings, that attack can be deadly if she's not alone.

• Not Bad For A Human (+40G / Silver) - Defeat the Alien Queen.

This is a story-based achievement, so you can't miss it. You'll have to fight the Alien Queen as part of the main campaign.

Walkthrough to the Alien Queen:

You'll start by dropping down and opening a door into a training room. If you try to open it without doing anything else, Duke will joke about who locks doors like that. Inside, you can mess around with the weights, a punching bag, or curl a barbell. Head to the next room to grab some gear – make sure you pick up an RPG Launcher and some explosives. Now, head back into the training room. You'll need to arc a Pipe Bomb into a hole on the other side of a door. Use a jump pad to bounce it so it lands near some explosives on the other side of that door. Detonate the bomb to blow the doors open.

The next room is where things get serious. You'll find a Railgun, another RPG Launcher, a Ripper, and some Wall Boobs (seriously, if you haven't gotten that Ego boost yet, what are you doing?). This is also the path leading to the Alien Queen. Climb the stairs, open the door, and jump over some debris to reach your next objective. You'll hit a checkpoint right before the boss battle.

BOSS BATTLE - ALIEN QUEEN

EFFECTIVE WEAPONS: RPG, Ripper, Shotgun, Pipe Bombs

STRATEGY:

This can be a tough fight until you get the hang of her attack patterns. Your main weapons here will be the RPG Launcher and Pipe Bombs. You can use others if you prefer, but these are the most effective.

The Queen has two main phases. The first phase, until you deal significant damage, she's pretty defensive and mostly throws Egg Pods at you. The second phase, when she's down to her last 1000 health, she gets much more aggressive and starts summoning Octabrains.

Phase 1 Strategy:

The best spot for cover is on the left side of the room, near the EDF Ammo Crate. Stock up on everything you can. Here's the drill:

• Back up as close to the cover as possible. Throw a Pipe Bomb at the jump pad. Aim just below the pad so it hits correctly.
• Mentally count to three while moving to the far right, staying in cover.
• Now, blow the Pipe Bomb when it's behind her 'shield' and immediately start firing your RPG at her chest. You've got about 7 seconds to deal as much damage as possible before she puts her shield back up. Don't rapid-fire the RPG; just hold the trigger down. If timed right, you can land about five RPG shots.
• Get back into cover, restock on ammo, and wait for her to throw an Egg Pod.
• When the Egg Pod hatches, focus on destroying it with your RPG. These Pregnators are dangerous, so take them out ASAP. It's safer to deal with them in cover than out in the open.
• Repeat the Pipe Bomb and RPG steps. Only run for Pipe Bombs if you absolutely have to. Remember, Pregnators are your top priority.

Phase 2 Strategy:

Once she's down to her last 1000 health, she'll become more aggressive and start summoning Octabrains. Continue using the same Pipe Bomb and RPG strategy, but be ready to switch to your Shotgun or Ripper to deal with the Octabrains quickly. The RPG is less effective against them, so save your RPG ammo for the Queen herself.

Alien Queen's Attacks:

• Giant Claw: She'll raise an arm before swiping. Strafe left or right to dodge this. It can kill you if your Ego isn't full, especially on higher difficulties.
• Psionic Blast: You'll see a purple glow around her head/mouth. This can't be easily dodged, so take cover before she unleashes it. This is the attack you can use to grind the 'FBT' achievement.
• Spawn Pregnator: She'll launch an egg that hatches into a Pregnator. Deal with these immediately, as their attacks combined with the Queen's can be deadly.
• Spawn Octabrain: She'll summon an Octabrain. Use your Shotgun, Ripper, or Pipe Bombs to take care of it; avoid the RPG.
• Strength Tap Fail: Sometimes she'll just spit you back out without dealing damage.

Ammo and Health:

There's an Ammo Crate on the left (protected by cover) and an explosives crate on the right (unprotected). You'll need to make quick runs to grab bombs if you run low, but try to stay near the crumbling wall for cover.

Just keep repeating the cycle of cover, Pipe Bomb, RPG, and dealing with adds, and you'll eventually take her down. Good luck!
