Freeze Well! (+20G / Bronze) - Kill 15 frozen aliens.

This achievement can be obtained after acquiring the Freeze Ray. Freeze fifteen aliens and then smash them. This also counts towards executions. The Freeze Ray is particularly effective with the 3D cheat active, allowing for natural progression towards this achievement if you keep the weapon.

Tips
  • The Freeze Ray is a highly useful weapon. If you have completed the game on 'Let's Rock' or 'Come Get Some' difficulty, you can enable the Duke 3D Freeze Ray game extra. This version is more effective, dealing ten times more damage per ammo unit and having a greater range. Be aware of a small chance of shots bouncing back, a slower firing rate, and the weapon not recharging unless the setting is turned off. Rapidly tapping the trigger can speed up firing. It is effective against all enemies, especially Octabrains and Pigcops, and sets them up for executions, allowing Ego regeneration. It can also two-hit kill a boss (except in the patched PC version).
  • You can take up to three barrels from the previous area to throw at Pigcops.
  • The Freeze Ray is strongly advised to be kept for the rest of the game as it cannot run out of ammo and reduces pressure.

Glitches:

  • When angled correctly, an RPG can be launched through glass to kill a Pigcop in an adjacent room.
  • If angled a certain way, it is possible to launch an RPG through the glass and kill the Pigcop in the other room.
  • Do NOT stand directly in front of the closed door (where you came from). It can open and crush you against the wall, resulting in death.
  • If you jump over the railing and try to open the door before the screen fades to black, you may encounter an impossible death scenario.
