Battle Tyranitar in Scarlet and Salamence in Violet during this limited-time Tera Raid event. Learn about their types, Tera types, and recommended counters.

Hey there! So, you're looking to take on some powerful Pokémon in a special Tera Raid event? Awesome! This event features Tyranitar and Salamence, and it's only around for a short time. Here's the lowdown so you don't miss out.

When is it?
This event runs from midnight UTC on December 9th to 23:59 UTC on December 11th, 2022. Make sure you hop on during those dates!

Which Pokémon appears where?
If you're playing Pokémon Scarlet, you'll find Tyranitar showing up in Tera Raids. If you're playing Pokémon Violet, you'll be battling Salamence. You'll encounter them in both 4-star and 5-star Tera Raids.

Can't get the version you want?
No worries! If you want to battle a Tyranitar but only have Violet, or vice versa for Salamence, you can team up with players online who have the opposite version. Just jump into online Tera Raids!

Tyranitar: Scarlet Exclusive

Tyranitar is a Rock and Dark type Pokémon. When you face it in a 4-star raid, its Tera Type will be random. However, in a 5-star raid, it has a 50% chance of being a Ghost type, or it could be a random Tera Type.

Pro-Tip: If Tyranitar has a Ghost Tera Type, bringing a strong Dark or Ghost type Pokémon will deal double damage. Our Gholdengo build would be perfect for this!

Salamence: Violet Exclusive

Salamence is a Dragon and Flying type Pokémon. Similar to Tyranitar, in a 4-star raid, its Tera Type will be random. In a 5-star raid, it has a 50% chance of having a Steel Tera Type, or it could be a random Tera Type.

Pro-Tip: If Salamence has a Steel Tera Type, Ground or Fighting type Pokémon will be super effective, dealing double damage. Pokémon like Iron Hands, which is a strong Fighting type, can learn some powerful moves that will be great here!
