Defeat Team Star Grunts in pokemon scarlet and violet. Learn how to use Terastallize and counter Poison and Normal types like Shroodle and Yungoos.
Walkthrough
- 1The first Team Star Grunt you encounter has a Level 8 Shroodle. If you have explored and caught Pokémon, this fight may be easy. A Level 16 Pokémon was used in testing, but anything around Level 8 should be sufficient. Psychic and Ground type Pokémon are most effective against Poison types. Drowzee can be found in ruins east of Los Platos, and Paldean Wooper can be found south of Los Platos near a pond. Shroodle is weak to Grass, Fairy, and Bug types, so avoid those.
- 2After defeating the first Grunt, Nemona will give you a Tera Orb, allowing you to Terastallize your own Pokémon.
- 3You will then encounter another Team Star Grunt with a Level 9 Yungoos. This Pokémon is also weak. Fighting types are super-effective, but any well-trained Pokémon should be able to win.
- 4To use Terastallize, select “Battle”, then the “Terastallize” icon to the left of your moves. The icon will light up, and your moves will appear crystal-like.
- 5Select a move that matches your Pokémon’s Tera Type, which can be found on its status screen or the Terastallize icon.
- 6During the turn you Terastallize, your Pokémon will transform before any moves are executed. If the move matches the Tera Type, a short animation will play before the move.
- 7Once defeated, the Grunts will leave. You will then be in front of the academy stairs. You can explore Mesagoza or go up the stairs to proceed to Naranja/Uva Academy.
Tips
- Consider using Terastallize if you are unsure about the battle.
- Avoid using Grass, Fairy, or Bug type moves against Shroodle.
- Fighting type moves are super-effective against Yungoos.
