How to Beat the Fighting Crew in Scarlet & Violet

Learn how to beat the Fighting Crew in pokemon scarlet and violet. Recommended level is 55+, with Flying, Psychic, or Fairy types being most effective.

Location: The Fighting Crew’s base is located near the north-east boundary of Paldea, close to North Province (Area 2).

Best Way to Reach the Fighting Crew:

1. If you have the Climb ability, open your in-game map, set the Fighting Crew’s base as your destination, and dash and climb your way there.
2. If you do not have Climb, start from the Ice Gym area. Head east, down the mountain. Continue east past the snowy area until you reach a watchtower. Keep heading east downhill towards the Pokémon Center in North Province (Area One).
3. From there, go around from the south to reach North Province (Area Two), characterized by bamboo trees. Travel north-west towards the next Pokémon Center. The Fighting Crew’s base is a short distance east from there.
4. If you haven’t visited the Ice Gym, make your way there first.

When to Fight the Fighting Crew:

It is recommended to fight the Fighting Crew when your Pokémon are above Level 55. Since your opponents favor Fighting-type Pokémon, ensure your team includes multiple Pokémon that can effectively counter them.

Recommended Pokémon for the Fighting Crew:

Flying, Psychic, and Fairy-type Pokémon are generally the best choices against Fighting-types. Ghost-types are also effective due to their immunity to Fighting-type moves.

• Mimikyu: A Ghost and Fairy-type. A Tera Mimikyu can be found at a pond in North Province (Area Two).
• Sylveon: The Fairy-type evolution of Eevee. A Tera Sylveon is located east of the Fairy Crew’s base.
• Azumarill: A Water and Fairy-type. A Tera Azumarill can be encountered at Casseroya Lake, north of where the Dragon Titan was.
• Gyarados: A Water and Flying-type. A Tera Gyarados is available at Casseroya Lake, south-west of the Dragon Titan fight.
• Veluza: A Water and Psychic-type found throughout Casseroya Lake.
• Espathra: A Psychic-type found around North Province (Area One).

Attacking the Fighting Crew’s Base:

Approach the barricade to trigger a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically). Your first opponent will be Carmen.

Carmen of the Team Star:

• Carmen’s Pokémon are: Croagunk (Level 54, Poison/Fighting) and Primeape (Level 55, Fighting).
• Do not lead with a Fairy-type Pokémon. Instead, use a Flying or Psychic type. Ground-types are also effective.
• Against Primeape, Flying, Psychic, and Fairy types all work well.

After defeating Carmen, ring the doorbell to begin the Star Barrage.

Star Barrage:

In a Star Barrage, you must defeat 30 Pokémon within 10 minutes by auto-battling. Throw your Pokémon by pressing the button; it will attack nearby opponents. You can send out up to three Pokémon simultaneously.

• If your Pokémon take damage, you can speak to Clive to heal them.
• Look for a vending machine if you run out of Revives for knocked-out Pokémon.
• You can press the button to give up if the situation is unfavorable.
• You will fail the Star Barrage if all your Pokémon are knocked out or if you run out of time before defeating the required 30 Pokémon.
• The base layout is linear, and Pokémon will continue to appear even if you reach the end. Many players clear this within 2 minutes.

• Crabominable (Fighting/Ice)
• Hawlucha (Fighting/Flying)
• Toxicroak (Poison/Fighting)
• Medicham (Fighting/Psychic)

• Passimian (Fighting)
• Mankey (Fighting)
• Primeape (Fighting)
• Breloom (Grass/Fighting)
• Hariyama (Fighting)
• Falinks (Fighting)

Type Effectiveness During Star Barrage:

• Against Gallade or Medicham: Psychic is acceptable. Flying and Fairy are still great. Ghost is also a good option.
• Against Crabominable: Flying, Psychic, and Fairy are superior choices. Be cautious with Flying-types.
• Against Hawlucha or Flamigo: The standard Flying, Psychic, and Fairy counters work. Electric-types are also an option.
• Against Toxicroak: Fairy is only moderately effective. Use Flying, Psychic, or Ground-types.
• Against Breloom: The standard counters are effective, or you can use Fire-types.
