Ready to rematch Katy in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Get the lowdown on her Bug-type team, recommended counters, and strategies to beat her at full power after the main story.
Alright, so you've beaten the main story and now you're back to challenge the Gym Leaders again, this time at their full strength! Katy's ready for another go, and this rematch happens after you've finished the Area Zero story and visited the Director's Office at the Academy. Geeta's asked you to do a bit of an inspection, which means you can take on the Gym Leaders again.
Since Katy still rocks Bug-type Pokémon, you'll want to bring along some Fire, Rock, or Flying types. Her team is sitting around Level 65-66, so make sure your Pokémon are at least Level 65+ to keep up. If you need some ideas, think about bringing that Level 75 Tera Dragonite from eastern Paldea, the Legendary Chi-Yu, Corviknight or Volcarona from Area Zero, or if you're playing Violet, the Paradox Pokémon Iron Moth or Iron Jugulis.
Katy's Rematch Team
Here's who you'll be facing:
| Pokémon | Level | Type |

| Forretress | 65 | Bug / Steel |
| Spidops | 65 | Bug |
| Heracross | 65 | Bug / Fighting |
| Ursaring (Tera Type: Bug) | 66 | Normal |
Katy's Pokémon Breakdown
Lokix
Lokix isn't as scary this time around since it doesn't have First Impression. It's still got some tricks though, like Lunge to lower your Attack, Sucker Punch to try and go first if you're attacking, Axe Kick which is great against Rock and Ice types, and Bounce to jump up for a turn. Fire, Flying, Bug, and Fairy types should do well here. Just be careful of Sucker Punch if you're both low on health – don't attack unless you have something like Extreme Speed!
Forretress
Forretress is mostly a defensive wall. It'll use Bug Bite and Gyro Ball for STAB, Stone Edge to chip away at Fire types, and Curse to boost its Attack and Defense while lowering its Speed. Oh, and it's got Sturdy, so it won't go down in one hit. Fire types are your best bet here, but watch out for Stone Edge. Since it has Sturdy, you'll need at least two hits. Forretress doesn't have many other weaknesses, so you can probably outlast it with neutral attacks. Just remember it has high Defense, so focus on special attacks!
Spidops
Katy's Tarountula has evolved into Spidops! This one can use Skitter Smack to lower your Special Attack, Silk Trap to block damage and lower your Attack if you hit it, Brick Break to deal with Rock types and break shields, and Throat Chop to stop sound-based moves. Since it's a pure Bug type, Fire and Flying types will make short work of it. Rock types are weak to Brick Break, but if Spidops has high Defense, it might not hurt too much. Still, Fire and Flying are your go-to here.
Heracross
Heracross is a powerhouse, packing the super strong STAB moves Megahorn and Close Combat. It also has Stone Edge to hit Fire and Flying types hard, and Night Slash for Psychic types. Flying types will hit it for quadruple damage, but they're vulnerable to Stone Edge, so only use them if they're faster or can take a hit. Fairy types might be a safer bet.
Terastallized Ursaring
For the final Pokémon, Katy Terastallizes her Ursaring. Watch out for Fury Cutter, which gets stronger the more you use it, High Horsepower to smack Fire and Rock types, Play Rough to counter Fighting types, and Crunch for extra coverage. Your best bet here is probably a Flying type. They can resist the STAB Fury Cutter and take neutral or no damage from Ursaring's other moves.
