Missing out on building your bond with Hassel in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is easy to do, as most players get caught up in the main questlines, shiny hunting, and Tera Raids. However, it's worth returning to the Academy to max out Hassel's bond, which rewards players with rare or expensive items.

To max out Hassel's bond, you'll generally want to clear all of his classes and ace the midterm and final exams. It's easier to complete all these academic requirements first, then focus on his bond-building events. After completing all of Hassel's Art classes, follow these steps:

How to Increase Friendship with Mr. Hassel

Step 1: Visit the Art room where Hassel teaches his classes and speak with him to become "closer."

Step 2: Head to the School yard, where Dendra usually is, and speak with Hassel again to further increase your friendship/bond.

Step 3: After completing all of Hassel's lessons, find him in the Entrance Hall. He will discuss his family, and you can choose any dialogue option, as the outcome will be the same. This conversation will earn you his trust.

Step 4: Return to the Art room and speak with Hassel one last time. Again, choose any dialogue options you prefer, as the outcome remains the same. After this conversation, you will receive 50 Dragon Tera Shards.

You can also earn Dragon Tera Shards by defeating Dragon Tera-Type Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles. It's recommended to use strong Fairy-type Pokémon like Azumarill, Sylveon, or Flutter Mane.
