Follow this comprehensive guide to complete The Kulrut main quest in Horizon Forbidden West, including defeating the Rebel Ambush and the Slitherfang boss.
Walkthrough
- 1Return to the Memorial Grove and make your way to the arena behind Hekarro’s throne room. Scan datapoints along the way: Outdoor Exhibits, Not Bad I Guess, A Vet Remembers, and Crater Memorial. Pry open a cache to loot the Tenakth Marshal armor.
- 2Report to Hekarro and inform him when you are ready to begin The Kulrut.
- 3Make your way around the arena’s balcony, jump off, head north up a trench, and climb a ladder to rendezvous with Dekka.
- 4After some dialogue, The Kulrut will begin. Use the heavy weapons to defeat Regalla’s machines, which will consist of several waves, primarily Clawstriders, with some Scrappers, Ravagers, Rollerbacks, and Grimhorns. Focus on the Ravagers first due to their threat.
- 5After defeating the machines, you will face a Slitherfang in the arena.
- 6The Slitherfang is weak to Fire, Frost, and Plasma. Frost is recommended to inflict the Brittle debuff for extra damage.
- 7Target weakpoints such as the flanges on its Sonic Hood, the Earthgrinder, and the Metalbite Sac on its upper torso. Detaching the Earthgrinder yields the Slitherfang Earthgrinder component.
- 8The Slitherfang attacks with lunges, sweeps, acid spit, and a tail slam that deals Shock damage.
- 9If you need assistance, harvest medicinal herbs and allies will eventually man a ballista if you lure the Slitherfang into the open.
- 10Once the Slitherfang is defeated, loot it, gather any healing items, loot caches, and head up a rubble ramp on the southern end of the arena.
- 11Fight or avoid rebels fighting allied Tenakth, then scale a wall to trigger a scene.
- 12After the scene, climb down the ladder behind the throne to the ruins below. Scan the WTH Perkins??? datapoint.
- 13Interact with the console to recover AETHER.
- 14Return to the surface and talk to Dekka. You will gain a new ally and the Unity datapoint.
- 15Go through the museum and interact with the “Visions” to gain the following datapoints: Columbia Drop [R], Gold Mountain [R], Military Life [R], and Nevada Ambush [R].
- 16Return to The Base and restore AETHER to GAIA to complete the quest.
Tips
- The Fire Repeater, found on the high ground at the start of the rebel ambush, functions similarly to a Ravager Cannon and sets enemies on fire.
- There are more heavy weapons available to pick up if your initial equipment runs dry during the rebel ambush.
- The Slitherfang is weak to Frost, which inflicts the Brittle debuff, increasing damage dealt to it.
- The Slitherfang’s Earthgrinder component can be obtained by detaching the Earthgrinder weakpoint.
- Medicinal herbs are available around the arena for healing.
- Allies will eventually man a ballista to attack the Slitherfang if lured into the open.
