Learn how to defeat Scrappers in Horizon Forbidden West. This guide covers their weaknesses, attacks, loot drops, and strategies for taking them down.

The Scrapper is an agile scavenger machine, often found in packs, that breaks down machine carcasses for recycling. It continually scans for threats and will defend its salvage from intruders.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Level: 11
  • Type: Acquisition
  • Cauldron: MU Cauldron
  • Weak: Shock
  • Strong: Plasma

Tips for Defeating the Scrapper:

Scrappers function similarly to Scroungers but lack their shockwave melee attacks, offering more dodging leeway. They are typically found near other machines or machine carcasses. When facing a Scrapper one-on-one, it will often stay close and use melee attacks, which are easy to dodge due to their predictable lunges.

The Scrapper also has two ranged attacks utilizing its Plasma Cell, located above its hind legs. These attacks are less common and may appear more frequently when fighting multiple machines. One is a rapid burst of Plasma projectiles, and the other is a sweeping laser beam. The projectile spread is narrow and easy to avoid, and the laser beam dissipates quickly. Overall, the Scrapper is a standard machine and not overly difficult to defeat.

Loot (Body):

  • Glowblast — 100%
  • Metal Shards — 100%
  • Volatile Sludge — 50% (Apex only)
  • Apex Scrapper Heart — 45% (Apex only)
  • Machine Muscle — 30-31%
  • Scrapper Circulator — 22-23%
  • Braided Wire — 20-21%
  • Small Machine Core — 17%
  • Scrapper Primary Nerve — 15-17%
  • Sturdy Hardplate — 10-11%
  • Metal Bone — 10-11%

Loot (Radar):

The Radar is located on the middle of the Scrapper's back. Shooting it off disables its ability to emit a pulse that reveals enemies and scramble Focus signals. This part is destroyed upon killing the machine.

  • Scrapper Radar — 100%

Loot (Plasma Cell):

The Plasma Cell is located above the hind legs and powers the Scrapper's ranged attacks. Destroying it removes these attacks. Shooting it with Plasma ammo can trigger an explosion. This part is the only source of the Scrapper Spark Coil.

  • Glowblast — 100%
  • Scrapper Spark Coil — 20-21%
