Signals of the Sun

Need a hand with the Signals of the Sun errand in Horizon Forbidden West? Follow our step-by-step guide to help the Oseram, defeat machines, and gather the Signal Lens.

Alright, so you've made it to Barren Light in Horizon Forbidden West and finished the 'To The Brink' main mission. Now, it's time to help out an Oseram named Maleev with an errand called 'Signals of the Sun'. He's got a bit of a situation near an old Carja watchtower, and he'll need your help fending off some machines.

Walkthrough:

1. Go to the Top of the Cliff

   First things first, travel northwest from Barren Light. You'll find Maleev trying to move a body. Chat with him to get the lowdown on what's happening. He's not exactly thrilled about helping the other person involved, so after you've got the info, you'll need to head further north. Keep an eye out for climbable surfaces – using your Focus (press R3) will highlight these with a yellow outline. Once you reach the top, follow the path downwards until you hit a broken bridge. You'll need to use your grapple to get across.

2. Kill the Machines

   Hold up before you cross that bridge! Before you head over, you've got a fight on your hands. There are three Burrowers and one Scrounger waiting for you. For the Burrowers, Fire ammo is your best bet. Aim for their Resource Containers or their eyes. For the Scrounger, switch to Frost or Acid ammo and target its body or Resource Containers.

3. Talk to Oseram

   Once the metal critters are down, look for a small rock formation at the back of the area. Climb up it and you'll find Raynah. Have a word with her.

4. Gather the Signal Lens

   Raynah needs you to get up to the signal dish, which is just to her right. You'll see a grapple point on the side of the wall. Use your grapple to latch onto it, which will reveal a hole in the wall. Jump through and interact with another grapple point inside. Head through the passage and drop down to the area below. Go around the corner, and you'll find two more grapple points that will help you pull yourself up. Shimmy across to the broken platform on your left, then follow the path to the right. Climb up, and you'll finally reach the signal dish. Grab the Signal Lens from here. After that, just drop back down and give the lens to Raynah to wrap up this errand.

Tips:

• Make sure to use the correct elemental weaknesses for each machine type to take them down quickly. Fire for Burrowers and Frost/Acid for Scroungers will make the fight much easier.
• Don't forget to use your Focus (R3) to spot climbable surfaces and grapple points – it's a lifesaver when navigating tricky terrain.
