    After gaining control of Jill, fall off the stairs. There is nothing useful on the walkway back up.

    Walk forward and examine the lump of flesh (carcass) near O'Brian on the beach.

    Press up on the control pad (D-pad) to equip the Genesis scanner.

    Hold R to aim the scanner, target the lump of flesh, and hold the Y button to scan it.

    O'Brian will ask you to scan the rest of the carcasses on the beach.

    Scan the nearest carcass on the ground; you will get a reading that it contains a metal object.

    Examine this carcass to trigger a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically).

Tips
  • Scanning is a major mechanic in Resident Evil: Revelations. You can scan enemies and strange objects.
  • Your main goal with the Genesis scanner is to reach 100% scan analysis.
  • Once you achieve 100% scan, Jill will receive a green herb. The scanner then resets to 0%.
  • The Genesis scanner can reveal hidden items and handprints. When a scannable item is in range, a yellow dot will appear on the bottom right of the scanner's HUD (Heads-Up Display) as you aim it. Scan the targeted area to uncover hidden items!

  • Carcass - On top of some rocks in the middle of the beach, towards the stairs.
