Guide to reaching Slateport City in Pokemon Emerald, including trainers on Route 109, the Soda Pop house, and Mr. Briney's boat service.
Walkthrough
- 1After escaping the cave, return to Route 106 and then travel back to Dewford Town.
- 2Go to the dock near the gym and speak with Mr. Briney to request a boat ride to Slateport City. Ensure you have given the letter to Steven if you haven't already.
- 3Mr. Briney will take you across the water, but instead of docking, you will land on the beach of Route 109.
- 4Upon entering Route 109, you will encounter two tubers. Talking to them will yield the Soft Sand, an item that boosts Ground-type moves by 10% when held.
- 5Route 109 has no wild Pokemon but features several trainers hiding under umbrellas. Battle them:
- Sailor Huey: Wingull (Lv. 12), Machop (Lv. 12) - Reward: $384
- 6Sailor Edmond: Wingull (Lv. 13) - Reward: $416
- 7Tuber Hailey: Marill (Lv. 13) - Reward: $52
- 8Tuber Rickey: Zigzagoon (Lv. 13) - Reward: $52
- 9Proceed north along the beach. You will find a house. Enter it.
- 10Inside, you will find three trainers. If you defeat all three, the owner, Mr. Sea, will reward you with 6 Soda Pops. Soda Pops restore 60 HP and are very useful at this stage of the game. The trainers are:
- Tuber Simon: Azurill (Lv. 12), Marill (Lv. 12) - Reward: $46
- 11Beauty Johanna: Goldeen (Lv. 13) - Reward: $1040
- 12Sailor Dwayne: Wingull (Lv. 11), Machop (Lv. 11), Tentacool (Lv. 11)
- 13After defeating all three trainers, speak to Mr. Sea to receive your 6 Soda Pops.
- 14Exit the house and continue north from the beach to enter Slateport City.
