ROUTE 104

Your guide to Route 104 in Pokemon Emerald! Discover wild Pokemon, train against trainers like Youngster Billy and Fisherman Darian, and find your way to Petalburg Woods.

Route 104 is your next stop in Hoenn, a path leading you further into the region. It’s a good place to catch some new Pokemon and test your battling skills against a few trainers before heading into the Petalburg Woods.

As you enter Route 104, head north and west through the wild grass. You’ll notice a house near the water with a dock – don’t worry about that for now. Keep going north from the cottage; there’s a path that leads you right into the Petalburg Woods.

Wild Pokemon:

• Poochyena (Common)
• Wurmple (Common)
• Marill (Common) - While Marill and its evolution Azumarill have pretty weak stats, they can be useful as HM slaves for moves like Waterfall, Dive, and Rock Smash.
• Wingull (Uncommon) - Evolves into Pelipper, which is known for its speed drop and weaknesses. It’s generally better to avoid Pelipper.
• Taillow (Uncommon) - This one is a solid choice! Taillow evolves into Swellow, a Pokemon with good speed and attack, making it a decent flying-type option for your team.

Trainers:

• Youngster Billy - He’s got a Level 5 Zigzagoon and a Level 7 Seedot. He’ll battle you for $112.
• Fisherman Darian - This guy has a Level 9 Magikarp and will give you $360 if you beat him.
• Lady Cindy - She’s a Match Call Trainer, meaning she might call you later for rematches! She has a Level 7 Zigzagoon and pays out $1400.
