Navigate Route 106 and the treacherous Granite Cave in Pokemon Emerald. Find trainers, catch Pokemon like Abra and Makuhita, and get HM05 Flash and TM47 Steel Wing.
Walkthrough
- 1On Route 106, battle Fisherman Ned (Tentacool Lv. 11, $440) and Fisherman Elliot (Magikarp Lv. 10 x2, Tentacool Lv. 7, $400).
- 2Head west to find the entrance to Granite Cave.
- 3Upon entering Granite Cave, speak to the man near the entrance to receive HM05, Flash. This move is crucial for navigating darker areas of the cave, though it can be bypassed with difficulty. It's recommended to teach Flash to a Pokemon like Abra, or catch an Abra specifically for this purpose.
- 4Continue west and go down the first ladder. The area will become dark, requiring Flash.
- 5Head north and you'll find a sand slope that requires the Mach Bike to access items. Continue south to find a Poke Ball.
- 6Return north and head east to another ladder. Climb it.
- 7In this new room, go west to a higher ledge and use the stairs to ascend.
- 8Proceed east to another ladder and climb it.
- 9Take the next ladder you encounter.
- 10Head south and west to find another ladder. Take it.
- 11In this small room, you will find Steven. Give him the letter he is looking for to receive TM47, Steel Wing, and have him registered on your Pokenav.
- 12Backtrack out of Granite Cave.

- Makuhita evolves into Hariyama, gaining significant HP and Attack.
- Zubat evolves into Golbat and then Crobat, which has high Speed and can learn Fly.
- Geodude evolves into Graveler and then Golem via trading, offering good HP, Attack, and Defense but low Special Defense and Speed. It's weak to Water and Grass types.
- Aron evolves into Lairon and then Aggron, boasting high Attack and Defense but very low Speed. It's a good alternative to Geodude.
- TM47 Steel Wing is a powerful Steel-type move, best taught to a Flying-type Pokemon.
