Learn how to navigate the treacherous Mirage Tower in Pokemon Emerald, overcome obstacles with the Mach Bike and Rock Smash, and make the crucial choice between the Anorith and Lileep fossils.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Enter Mirage Tower. Head east, then north to a ladder in the northeast.
  2. 2
Climb the ladder. Head west to find cracks in the floor. Use the Mach Bike to speed over them.
  3. 3
Follow the path to another ladder and climb it.
  4. 4
Head west and north to two sets of rocks. Use Rock Smash to clear them and reach the next ladder.
  5. 5
Climb the ladder to the top floor.
  6. 6
Use Rock Smash on the rock blocking the stairs. Head up the stairs to find two fossils.
  7. 7
Choose one fossil: the Claw Fossil (right, becomes Anorith) or the Root Fossil (left, becomes Lileep). The other will be lost until later in the game.
  8. 8
Exit Mirage Tower and head south onto Route 112.

Fossil Details:

  • Claw Fossil: Resurrects into Anorith. Good speed, below-average other stats. Evolves into Armaldo at level 40, with reduced speed. Weak moves initially.
  • Root Fossil: Resurrects into Lileep (Rock/Grass type). Few weaknesses due to type combination. Evolves into Cradily at level 40. Great defensive stats. Recommended choice.
Tips
  • The Mach Bike is essential for crossing the cracked floors.
  • Rock Smash is needed to clear paths to ladders and the fossils.
  • Fossils can be resurrected at the Devon Corp. building in Rustboro City.
