Learn how to access the East Side of Vice City early in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories using the Yankee Method exploit. Complete side activities and collectibles before the main story.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
    Linerunner Mini-Game:
    1. Locate the Linerunner in the Vice City Port Authority Main Building area.
  2. 2
Smack into damaged cars to destroy them, earning $300 per vehicle.
  3. 3
Aim to destroy cars worth over $2,000 in damage.
  4. 4
Stop hitting cars once you exceed $2,000 to avoid destroying the Linerunner before time runs out.
  5. 5
Successful completion awards $1,000. Replaying the mini-game yields $250 per completion.
  • The Yankee Method (Accessing East Side Early):
    1. Go to Viceport and find the parked Yankee truck southwest of the large moored ship.
    2. Drive the Yankee truck to Starfish Island and head towards The Mansion.
    3. Turn onto the property and drive east towards the Island Bridge (East).
    4. Stop near the bridge, turn the truck around, and back it up towards the water's edge.
    5. Position the truck so the back wheels are close to, but not in, the water, on an incline.
    6. Exit the truck. The truck will lean left due to the incline.
    7. Climb onto the truck by jumping onto the hood and then the top.
    8. Move to the back of the truck and rotate the camera to find a jut in the black metal railing on the wall where the bridge meets the land.
    9. Jump to the right of this jut to land on the bridge, bypassing the forcefield.
  • Tips
    • The forcefield on the bridge does not extend to the jutting section of the railing.
    • The back of the Yankee truck is positioned to allow players to go beyond the forcefield's end and jump onto the bridge.
    • While on the East Side early, players can complete:
      • Fifty-two Red Balloons.
    • Fourteen Unique Stunt Jumps.
    • Seventeen Rampages.
  • East Side Checkpoint Races and activities are generally inaccessible, except for:
    • Playground at the Point.
    • Caddy Daddy (PS2 Exclusive).
    • Playground on the Park (PS2 Exclusive).
  • The four East Side Turismo races can be done early if activated later in the game.
  • This exploit allows players to achieve up to 49% (PS2) or 47% (PSP) game completion, complete all Jumps and Rampages, collect all 99 Red Balloons, and finish some side-missions before starting the main story.
  • All Weapon Icons can be unlocked for Safehouses, though the last four for the Barracks at Fort Baxter do not appear.
  • Strategies in early missions that utilize weapons obtained through these early activities will be noted as "Early Explorer Bonus."
    • Linerunner Mini-Game: $1,000 upon successful completion, $250 for subsequent completions.
    • Early East Side Access: Allows completion of various collectibles and side activities before main story progression.
