Learn how to handle being Busted or Wasted in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. Discover hospital and police station locations, and understand the consequences of failing missions.

This guide covers what happens when you are Busted or Wasted in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, detailing the consequences, locations of relevant facilities, and available recovery options.

Busted

If you are Busted by the police, you will be sent to the nearest Police Station. The four Police Stations are located in Downtown (West Side), Little Havana (West Side), Vice Point (East Side), and Washington Beach (East Side). If you were in the middle of a mission, a taxi with a blue arrow will be nearby to take you back to your mission start point for $9.

Wasted

If your Health Bar empties due to explosions, gunfire, or drowning, you will be Wasted. This results in a mission failure and sends you to the nearest Hospital. The four Hospitals are Schuman Health Care Center (Downtown), West Haven Community Healthcare Center (Little Havana), Shady Palms Hospital (Vice Point), and Ocean View Hospital (Ocean Beach). You will be treated, which takes six game hours, billed $100, and released. You lose all weapons and Body Armor.

Recovery Options

After being Wasted or Busted, a Weapon Bribe Purchase Icon may appear. This allows you to regain lost weapons (but not Body Armor) for $2,000. This icon disappears if you move too far away. If you were in a mission when Wasted, a taxi will also be available for $9.

Purchase Icons

Purchase Icons, marked by an unlocked lock symbol, become available as you progress. These allow you to purchase items, primarily vehicles.

  • Weapon Bribe: Unlocked after being Wasted or Busted. Available at hospitals and police stations. Costs $2,000. Allows recovery of lost weapons.
  • Bulletproof Sanchez: Unlocked after 'Conduct Unbecoming'. Located in front of the 101 Bayshore Avenue Safehouse. Costs $4,000.
  • Quad: Unlocked after 'When Funday Comes'. Available at Sunshine Autos. Costs $3,000.
  • Bulletproof Ventoso: Unlocked after 'When Funday Comes'. Available at Sunshine Autos. Costs $3,000.
