Learn about using Police vehicles, Pay 'N' Sprays, and what happens when you get Busted in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. Includes vehicle spawns and mission tips.
Although there are Motorcycle Cops in Vice City Stories, they are not aggressive at all. This is a far cry from the Motorcycle Cops in "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" which constantly shot at your car from behind and made car chases far less fun.
But this means that you now have an option of using the Police motorcycle in the Vigilante Mission which can make it somewhat easier due to the fact that you can shoot forward instead of just from the sides.
One of the best vehicles to use in the Vigilante Mission is the Rhino. The Rhino isn't too hard to get once you are able to generate 6-Star Wanted Ratings to get them to show up. I have a chapter that outlines on how to acquire one and how to use it in the Vigilante Mission.
The Hunter, however, shows up after the Main Story Missions are done (after the mission "Last Stand") and used in the checkpoint race "Skywolf". Nevertheless, if you waited this long to do the Vigilante Mission, then this is the absolute best vehicle to use.
Using a Pay 'N' Spray
As noted above, you can drive a car or motorcycle, excluding Police and rescue vehicles, into a Pay 'N' Spray to change the color of your vehicle, as well as repair it, to get rid of Wanted Ratings at a cost of $100. After successfully completing all four vehicle lists for the Civil Asset Forfeiture Impound then all of your visits to the Pay 'N' Sprays are free.
When you use the Pay 'N' Spray to get rid of your Wanted Ratings then the Wanted Rating Stars will flash for a short time. While they are flashing, you are then considered to be on "probation". If you commit a crime, like running over someone, while the Wanted Rating Stars are flashing, then your Wanted Rating will be reinstated.
There are four Pay 'N' Sprays in Vice City where you can go to get rid of your Wanted Ratings and repair your vehicle:
- Little Haiti (West Side).
- Viceport (West Side).
- Vice Point (East Side).
- Ocean Beach (East Side).
Busted
If you get a Wanted Rating, and the Cops end up catching you, then you are Busted. Any mission you were doing at the time will be Failed. When you are Busted then you are sent to the nearest Police Station where you will be processed (which takes six game hours) and released. You also lose all weapons including your Body Armor.
In addition, you will be fined based on the number of Wanted Rating Stars you have when you are Busted:
- 1-Star: $100.
- 2-Star: $200.
- 3-Star: $400.
- 4-Star: $600.
- 5-Star: $900.
- 6-Star: $1,500.
However, you can regain your weapons, but not your Body Armor, by utilizing the nearby Weapon Bribe Purchase Icon (explained earlier). But don't wait too long as it will disappear after you wander off and you will have to rebuild your arsenal.
