    Head west, then south-west across a bridge, and south along the eastern edge of Fort Vaullerey.

    Continue south-west through the outskirts until you reach a watch tower.

    Ascend the tower, eliminating any Battery Soldiers, MA Veles units, and Imperial Snipers.

    At the top, Ignis will devise a plan to split the party. Agree to proceed when ready.

    Begin the mission by following Caligo south. Wait for him to stop, then continue south and stop again until he passes a guard.

    Perform a warp kill on the guard and proceed west onto a catwalk.

    Warp kill another guard further west on the catwalk.

    Turn south-east and warp kill an Imperial on the stairs of a guard tower.

    Follow Caligo west, then south-west onto another catwalk. Warp kill the Imperial there.

    Turn north-west and watch Caligo and his escort.

    Note the small metal tower to the north-west. Warp onto this tower above another Imperial guard.

    Wait for Caligo and his company to pass the gate, then warp kill the guard below.

    Do not enter the gate on foot. Warp to the catwalk beyond the gate to the south-west.

    Wait for Caligo and company to clear the tanks below, then warp kill the guard inside the gate.

    Warp back to the previous catwalk (south-west), head west, and warp to another catwalk to the north-west, keeping Caligo in sight.

    Caligo will stop at a gate. Warp to the catwalk west of this gate.

    When Ignis prompts you to subdue Caligo, do so via warp strike.

    Regroup with the others by backtracking east, avoiding or defeating Battery Soldiers, Imperial Snipers, and an MA Veles.

    Head north towards the Magitek Generator to reunite with Prompto and Gladio.

    Defeat the MA X Maniple by attacking its legs until it falls, then dismantle it.

    Press X/A at the Magitek Generator to shut it down.

    Return south to the previous area to encounter the mercenary Caligo was complaining about.

Strategy:

  • Aranea uses lance combos and powerful jump attacks. Dodge or phase through her combos.
  • Warp-pointing away can provoke her into a devastating jump attack.
  • Look for opportunities to block her attacks, especially her jump. A successful parry will leave her vulnerable.
  • Imperial Soldiers may appear during the fight; deal with them between Aranea's assaults.
  • Continue to block, parry, and counter her attacks.
  • When her HP reaches zero, she will retreat, ending the battle.
  • For defeating the imperials at Fort Vaullerey: EXP 5,000 / Unstable Stabilizer
  • For sparring with Aranea Highwind: EXP 3,500 / Bulletproof Vest
