Learn how to defeat the colossal Adamantoise in Final Fantasy XV. This guide covers its weaknesses, recommended gear, and strategies for this epic boss fight.
Walkthrough
- 1After gaining access to Umbra's services (Chapter 9), you'll receive a call from Cindy about seismic activity.
- 2Head to Hammerhead and speak with Cindy, who will direct you to Dave at Longwythe Rest Area.
- 3Talk to Dave outside the shack; he'll mention someone from Galdin Quay is there to help.
- 4Enter the diner and speak with 14 people you've met throughout your journey. Some NPCs are only accessible after completing sidequests or the main story and specific dungeons (Ezma requires all dungeons except Pitioss to be completed).
- 5Each NPC will offer a brief comment and an item. Vyv's Mega-Potion is the only notable item.
- 6Speak with Dino in the corner, then Dave to exit the diner.
- 7Check the table for Wiz's words (left) and consider the correct food for battle buffs (right).
- 8Your next objective is to speak with Monica on the northeastern side of Longwythe Peak.
- 9Monica will reveal the Adamantoise. You cannot defeat it at this stage.
- 10Run away from the Adamantoise within the three-minute time limit to automatically complete the quest objective.
Tips
- Preparation: Bring the Zwill Crossblades (optional but helpful), Enhancement (Ignis), and Piercer (Prompto). Use Muscle Stimulants or Power EXs. Equip Noctis with strength-increasing accessories.
- Phase 1: Target the Adamantoise's front fins (left or right of its head). Apply Enhancement at least twice and Piercer to lower its defense. Warp away if its fin flashes to avoid damage and use Potions/Hi-Potions to heal.
- Phase 2: Once enough damage is dealt, the Adamantoise's head will fall. You can warp-strike its eye, but this consumes MP quickly. Alternatively, attack the neck area behind where the tusk connects to its head.
- Phase 3: When the Adamantoise lifts its head, move to the other side and attack the remaining front fin. Repeat this process until it is defeated.
- Post-Battle: Return to Takka to turn in the hunt and receive your reward.
- EXP: 1,000 (for investigating the cause of the quakes)
