Prologue

Welcome to Final Fantasy XV! This guide covers the Prologue chapter, from Noctis waking in a fiery room to the dramatic events that set him on his journey.

Alright, so you've just booted up Final Fantasy XV and you're thrown into a pretty intense opening scene. Don't worry, I'm here to walk you through it. You'll start off in a dark, super hot room. An older guy, who turns out to be Noctis himself, is struggling to breathe. As the camera does its thing, you'll spot some of your buddies – Prompto and Ignis, among others – and a seriously imposing figure chilling on a throne, all surrounded by fire. Your first objective? Just run forward towards the throne. As you get close, BAM! A huge burst of fire knocks you flat. Prompto will be there to help you up, and Ignis will yell for you to get to cover. Just limp your way over there, and the game will take over for a bit. Just relax and enjoy the cutscenes that follow; they set up the whole story.

Insomnia's Waking Nightmare

So, after you've gotten through that initial sequence, you'll have completed the Prologue. Now, the game's story really kicks off. You'll learn about the long-standing conflict between the Kingdom of Lucis and the Niflheim empire, all centered around the world's last crystal. A peace treaty is supposed to be signed, with Noctis, the heir to the throne, set to marry Lady Lunafreya. But, surprise! It's all a trap. Niflheim invades, snatches the crystal, and the magical barrier protecting Lucis is gone. With his father and fiancée presumed dead, Noctis has to step up, relying on his friends and his own grit to navigate the mess that's about to unfold.
