To reach the Prairie Outpost, you can have Ignis drive you there in the Regalia, or travel north-west of Hammerhead in Leide. Upon arrival, you can scope out the merchants and pick up side quests. Before returning to the main story, there are several items and quests to attend to in the vicinity.

Walkthrough

    Head south of the barn where Monica was found. Behind a red brick building, search for an unmarked loot spot to find a Metal Scrap. This component is needed for Cid to upgrade the Drain Lance.

    Turn west from the red brick building and look for a fence with wooden crates and a cart. Search the cart to find Mystery Map II, which starts the quest “Scraps of Mystery II”.

    Return to the Prairie Outpost and speak with Dave behind the barn to accept the quest “Dust to Dust”.

    Leave the Prairie Outpost and head south, through Lepelleth Haven, into the wilderness. Continue south until you find a herd of Anak. Engage the Daggerquills that fly overhead; the Anak will likely be drawn into the fight. Anak are weak against fire.

    After defeating the enemies, search a car near a fence to find the Bent Dog Tag.

    You can return the Bent Dog Tag to Dave at the Prairie Outpost for the reward of 600 EXP and 5 Mega-Potions.

    Continue south from the Prairie Outpost until you see a water tower near where the highway turns south-east.

    From the water tower, head north to find a crumbling brick building. Inside, you will find an incapacitated hunter. Give them a Potion to complete a quest and receive 350 EXP and 900 Gil.

    Return to the water tower and look south-east to find a road. Follow this road uphill to a shack with a smaller water tower. Search outside the shack, between the awning and some sacks, to find another Mystery Map, starting “Scraps of Mystery III”.

    From the water tower, head west to reach the highway. Follow the highway north until you find a breach in the western guardrail. Beyond this is a road leading to a mine entrance.

    Follow the dirt road south-west towards the mine. Noctis will confirm this is where Cindy’s “rare car wax” is located. Head inside the mine.

Prairie Outpost Shopping:

  • JM Market - Outpost: Located to the east. Sells Potions (50 Gil), Hi-Potions (100 Gil), Elixirs (400 Gil), Hi-Elixirs (800 Gil), Phoenix Downs (1,000 Gil), Antidotes (10 Gil), and various ingredients like Gighee Ham (30 Gil) and Lucian Tomato (200 Gil).
  • Culless Munitions - Prairie Outpost: Located outside the barn. Sells weapons like Broadsword (150 Gil) and War Sword (150 Gil), and accessories such as Soldier’s Anklet (1,000 Gil).
