Learn how to unlock the Mount Ordeals Trial and its Extreme version in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. Follow our questline guide to face Rubicante!
Hey there! Ready to take on a new challenge in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker? We're going to walk through how to unlock the Mount Ordeals Trial, which lets you face off against the fiery Arch-fiend, Rubicante. It's not too tricky, but you'll need to get through a few Main Scenario Quests first.
- 1First things first, you'll need to complete a specific set of Main Scenario Quests released with patch 6.3. These are: Once More unto the Void, A Cold Reunion, Kindled Spirit, An Unforeseen Bargain, King of the Mountain, A Dragon’s Resolve, Paths Barred, Desires Untold, and Gods Revel, Lands Tremble.
- 2Once you've finished seven of those quests, make your way to Thavnair. Look for an NPC named Nahbdeen, who you can find at coordinates X: 10, Y: 10.
- 3Chatting with Nahbdeen will grant you access to the Mount Ordeals Trial. This trial works just like the others you've likely encountered, so be prepared with your usual party composition: 2 Tanks, 2 Healers, and 2 DPS.
Mount Ordeals Trial Extreme Version:
After you've conquered the normal version of Mount Ordeals, you can unlock the Extreme version. This is where things get significantly tougher!
- Head over to Old Sharlayan.
- Find the Wandering Minstrel. They're located at coordinates X: 12.6, Y: 14.2.
- Speak with the Wandering Minstrel to unlock the Extreme Trial. Be warned, this version is a serious step up in difficulty, so make sure you've got a solid group ready to practice with!
- Normal Mount Ordeals Trial: The rewards here are pretty standard, including the Rubicante Card, Savage Aim Materia XI, Savage Might Materia XI, and Heavens’ Eye Materia XI.
- Extreme Mount Ordeals Trial: The Extreme version offers much better loot! You have a chance to get the Flamecloaked Weapon for your class (Item Level 625) and, more excitingly, the new mount, the Lynx of Righteous Fire Flute!
