Targeting Augmentation

The Targeting Augmentation increases damage done by most ranged weapons (excluding Throwing Knives and thrown grenades, but including armed grenades placed on a wall). It also provides additional information about your target on the Heads-Up Display (HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap)). This Augmentation is invaluable for testing damage bonuses, increasing skill with ranged weapons and the Prod (a type of weapon), and improving accuracy and damage. It is most useful for characters who do not heavily invest in weapon training skills.

  • Level 1: 2.5% accuracy increase, 10% bonus damage. Displays target name, health indicator (High/Medium/Low), and range from target in feet.
  • Level 2: 5% accuracy increase, 20% bonus damage. Health indicator is replaced by percentage-based hit points detection specified by body part.
  • Level 3: 7.5% accuracy increase, 30% bonus damage. Displays the weapon equipped.
  • Level 4: 10% accuracy increase, 40% bonus damage. Provides a close-up of the target.

Vision Enhancement Augmentation

Vision Enhancement, through a fictional process involving metarhodopsin XII, allows you to duplicate the 'nightvision' found in nocturnal animals. Subsequent upgrades add infravision and sonar resonance imaging, enabling you to see through walls. This is ideal for locating nearby enemies when their position is unknown. However, at Levels 1 and 2, the nocturnal vision and infravision aspects do not significantly help in darkness, and the green filter and silhouette outline are not very useful. At Levels 3 and 4, Vision Enhancement becomes highly effective for scouting areas when enemy presence is suspected but not confirmed, or for safely assessing corners and manhole exits.

Notes: Metarhodopsin XII is fictional. Infravision, which kicks in at Vision Enhancement Level 2, highlights all biological and bot enemies as visible white outlines. Sonar Resonance Imaging uses undetectable sound to locate objects, and in-game, it seems to provide feedback only about moving targets.
