Boss Encounter: Great Centipede

The Great Centipede is a multi-part boss that scurries and attempts to ram you. You can damage any part of its body. As body parts are attacked, they may split off, disappear, or turn into Poison Stones, which should be destroyed immediately. The boss will always have at least 3-4 body parts. It attacks by charging, landing on you, or spitting attacks.

When the Centipede retreats into walls or the floor, destroy any Poison Stones. You can use the Air Machine on the upper level to make the air breathable again. This is also a good time to scavenge the 3 corpses scattered around the arena.

Boss Moves:

  • Pincer Attack: The Centipede charges repeatedly with its pincers. It is persistent but can be outrun or countered. Blocking and dodging to the side is possible but drains Ki faster.
  • Poison Stone: A broken limb may turn into a Poison Stone. Destroy it quickly. Use the Air Machine on the upper level if needed.
  • Flop Attack: Occurs when body parts are broken and the Centipede rears up. It attempts to squash you. Get behind it or keep away, or block and attack if you have enough Ki.
  • Poison Spit: When reared up, it spits poison down. Avoid the poison cloud to prevent poisoning. Use an antidote if necessary.
  • Paralysis Spit: Similar to Poison Spit, but shoots a stream of purple spit that can cause Paralysis. This attack is an annoyance unless you are low on health.
  • Tactical Retreat: The Centipede retreats into walls or the floor. It does not regain health but may regain body parts.
Tips
  • Keep healed and have antidotes ready.
  • Destroy Poison Stones as soon as they appear.
  • Use the Air Machine to clear poison if needed.
  • Attack any part of the boss to deal damage.
