BOSS ENCOUNTER: HATTORI HANZO (ROUND 2)
This fight is fairly similar to the last time you fought Hanzo. Instead of POISON items, you have several PARALYSIS items. For example, you have Paralysis Shurikens and Hemlock Broth. You also get Blinding Shells, Horoku-Dama, and Power Pills. And of course your Elixirs.
At the start of the fight, you should put on your Broth item, use one of your Power Pills, and bomb Hanzo to get started. From there it is a fight a lot like the previous one, except Hanzo has more appropriate health. He will use some different attacks, so be sure to read up on the boss moves below (note-ably, he has a Paralysis Bomb he can use and his Makibishi attack is different... plus he has exploding kunai). Keep those new attacks in mind.
Now, Hanzo will use a LOT of projectile attacks during this fight. Read up on his moves below of course, but in general try to close in with Hanzo while being ready to move left or right (or guard) at a moments notice. You can combo him from there and outdamage him with your physical attacks. His sword combo is also really easy to dodge to the side of and leaves him open for counter-attacks. One more (new) note here: try attacking as Hanzo RUNS towards you to catch him off guard and do some easy damage.
Overall, not a very tough boss fight as long as you stay clear of the majority of the projectiles (the bombs especially). Use up your own stock of items, close in, and take Hanzo out. Another step in mastering the way of the ninja...
BOSS MOVES:
- Sword Combo: Hanzo's very fast and when he does decide to attack he will often leap in and try to pull off a 4-5 hit sword combo. This combo is very forward-focused though, so if you dodge off to the side, you can often counter-attack him fairly easily. Thanks to his light armor, Hanzo can flip out of danger after using his sword combo, so keep in mind that you may have to chase him down to really damage him.
- Poison Shurikens: When he is at a distance, Hanzo likes to use his ninja tools, which include these poison shurikens. They are quick, but if you are constantly moving to the side they may just miss you without you trying. You can also dodge to the side if you are quick, or you can just guard them. They cause little damage, so as long as you are moving they should not be a problem.
