Part 142

Learn the moveset of the Giant Toad boss in Nioh, including Spear Thrust, Tongue Grab, Paralysis Bombs, Exploding Kunai, and more. Master its attacks to defeat it.

Boss Moves:

1. Spear Thrust / Spear Combos: The Giant Toad uses its spear frequently at the start of the fight. Spear Thrust is a forward thrust, easy to dodge to the side. Spear Combos involve two wide, low spear swings followed by a thrust. Try to get behind it during the swings or block. Be aware of the "Spear Drop" if you stay too close.
2. Spear Drop: Toad jumps and plunges its spear down, creating a small area of effect. Guard if you can't dodge in time.
3. Tongue Grab: Toad shoots its tongue out with moderate range. If hit, you'll be pulled into its mouth, take damage, and be spat out for more damage. Dodge to the sides or back away.
4. Paralysis Bombs: Used around 50-60% health. Toad throws bombs emitting purple smoke. Avoid the area of effect to prevent the paralysis status effect.
5. Exploding Kunai: Toad throws 6-7 kunai in an arch. They land, hiss, and explode, dealing moderate fire damage. Guarding until after they explode can mitigate damage but slows you down.
6. Kayaku-Dama: Similar to Paralysis Bombs, but these simply explode, dealing minor to moderate fire damage and potentially setting you on fire. Roll to extinguish flames faster.
7. Pipe Smack: A less common move, used when throwing ninja items and you are close. Toad uses its smoking pipe to smack you with a short forward movement. Guard or evade to the sides.
8. Yokai Realm Smoke: Toad exhales a greyish blob from its pipe, creating a patch of Yokai Realm on the ground. This is more of an annoyance than a direct threat.
