The instructor introduces the police wanted level system.

Minor Offense: Committing a minor offense displays a ticket icon. Stopping and paying the fine resolves it. In Freeride, being apprehended for this costs $1,000.

Serious Offense: Committing a serious offense displays a handcuff icon. Evading police is possible, but arrest results in mission failure. Actions like being seen with a weapon (other than a Baseball Bat) by a policeman trigger this. Players can attempt to escape sight, switch vehicles, or neutralize officers.

Weapon Discharge: Firing a weapon, especially when detected by police, displays a gun icon. This initiates a police assault where all officers in the area will engage Tommy. Players must escape sight, switch vehicles, or eliminate the officers.

Ending the Tutorial: Follow the compass and radar 'X' to the indicated door and press RMB to end the Tutorial.

Tutorial Experimentation: The Tutorial allows unlimited time to experiment with controls and explore. Tommy can return to the starting building and use the Health cabinet at the back to restore Health to 100%.

Tutorial Environment: The Tutorial area has no police and non-hostile pedestrians, allowing safe experimentation with the city, traffic, and controls.

Graffiti and References: Observe graffiti and store names, some of which may reference Rockstar associates. Examples include "Rangers FC No1 MARISA," "Bobbie Nelson," "Mark Jackson," "Chris Forth," "NO TOPLESS BATHING BELFAST HAS SUFFERED ENOUGH," "J.B. Megahey," "R. M. Revie," "Harry Corry," and "Progressive Uniont Party."

Vehicle Glitch: On the lot where the instructor directs Tommy to drive, the three wedge-shaped ramps can be used for a glitch. Park a Falconer Yellowcar on a ramp, shoot a wheel off, and a replacement wheel will appear. The car will move forward slowly, defying gravity until it falls into the ramp, then continues until Tommy interacts with it.
