Learn how to pick car locks, use the speed limiter, and shoot from vehicles in Mafia: Definitive Edition's Part 36 tutorial.
Walkthrough
- 1Approach the driver's door of the Falconer Yellowcar. The compass will disappear and an action button/exclamation point icon will appear.
- 2Press the RMB (Right Mouse Button) to pick the lock. A progress bar will appear; hold RMB to fill it. You can use mouse aim during this process. A message will appear: "You've learnt how to steal a Falconer." You can now pick the lock of a Falconer for the rest of the game.
- 3Press RMB again to enter the car. The vehicle's name will appear briefly at the bottom left of the screen.
- 4The radar (displayed in the upper left corner of the screen, part of the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap)) will appear, showing nearby vehicles and your destination when close enough.
- 5Drive the car using the controls (default: Cursor keys for accelerate, brake, steer; Spacebar for handbrake; M for manual transmission; A/Z for gear up/down; X for clutch; ,/. for look left/right; F5 for speed limiter; K for horn; C for camera change). Your controls may differ if reassigned.
- 6Drive to the destination indicated by a red X on the radar.
- 7Press F5 to toggle the speed limiter. Initially, it limits you to 40 mph (later 60 mph after completing main story missions). A yellow-orange diamond-shaped icon with "40" will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen when active. Drive to the next destination.
- 8To shoot from the driver's seat, scroll to a handgun and press LMB (Left Mouse Button). A reticle will appear, and you can aim with the mouse. Drive so a pedestrian is to the left of the car and shoot them.
- 9Press the key to look right or RMB to revert to empty hands and close the window if applicable.
- 10Use the Horn (Left Shift by default) to warn pedestrians or clear vehicles from your path, especially when exceeding the speed limit.
Tips
- You can use mouse aim while picking locks to check for nearby police, though none are present in the Tutorial.
- The speed limiter prevents you from exceeding 40 mph (or 60 mph later) and risking being stopped by police for speeding. Police cars appear as blue on the radar.
- You can only use handguns when shooting from the driver's seat. Shotguns and machine guns can be used from the passenger side.
- To shoot without aiming, click LMB without scrolling to a handgun first.
- Using the horn is more effective when approaching vehicles from behind and to their right or left.
