    If you break brick blocks and can't reach a cliff top, wall jump between the inward-facing cliff faces. This is easier with Tanooki Mario's hover ability but doable without.

    Jump onto the rubber platform on the left side of the steps. Press 'A' as you land on its far right corner to jump and hit an invisible ? Block containing a Statue Leaf.

    Grab the Statue Leaf and jump up the stairs. You'll see a small hole on a raised platform ahead. Crawl through it.

    Jump right and move along the fence. Jump over the gap and up the stairs onto the rubber platforms.

    Jump along the rubber platforms, collecting coins. Deal with the Prongo by luring it to dive, then quickly moving aside and stomping its underside.

    Move left and jump onto the next set of rubber platforms.

    Star Coin Alert! #2: Jump onto the second platform and wait for the moving platform to reach the right. Jump on it and perform a large jump (press 'A' as you land) to reach the Star Coin.

    Continue jumping up the rubber platforms and onto the area above.

    Be careful of Prongos and grab the Super Star. Defeat all seven Prongos here before time runs out to get three 1-Ups.

    Move to the small lip at the center of the south edge of the area.

    Star Coin Alert! #3: Stand at the edge of the lip. A block will appear to your south. Jump onto this block and then onto each subsequent appearing block until you reach the platform at the end and grab the Star Coin. Jump back to the main area.

    Run to the far side and jump onto the yellow platform. Stand on the left side until it reaches its highest point, then take a running jump off the right side onto the top of the Goal Pole for a 1-Up.

Special 1-2 Walkthrough:

  1. This is the first Cosmic Clone Special World course. The Cosmic Clone appears after you move far enough right and copies your actions with a delay. Keep moving forward and don't double back to avoid it. You cannot defeat it by manipulating game mechanics; just play the level.
  2. Jump right, past a Spiny. Hit the two ? Blocks to collect a Fire Flower and coins. Avoid the Cosmic Clone.
  3. Keep moving right and jump onto the cracked blocks.
  4. Star Coin Alert! #1: Run to the far side of the platform of cracked blocks and grab the Star Coin.
  5. If you fall below the cracked blocks, you can get back up by entering the Warp Pipe in the southeast corner or wall jumping up the walls in the southwest corner.
  6. Move right and hit the Large ? Blocks. The second can be hit multiple times, but don't stop as the Cosmic Clone will catch up.
  7. Keep running past Spinies and over spiked blocks. You can crawl through small indents in the back walls, but it's not essential.
  8. Grab the Checkpoint Flag. Run right, collect coins, and move through the archway.
  9. Star Coin Alert! #2: Above the path of a Spiked Pole, run and jump to grab the Star Coin, watching out for the moving Spiked Pole.
  10. Move past Spinies to a large chasm. In the center of the southern side is a rubber platform.
  11. Star Coin Alert! #3: Jump onto the rubber platform and perform a large jump to your right to grab the last Star Coin. Land on the platform to your right and keep running.
