Navigate Part 40 and World 6-4 in Super Mario 3D Land, including strategies for Giant Boos and beat platforms.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Dodge Peepas and use the sliding book or a running jump to reach the brick blocks. Jump down the stairs and onto the tightrope.
  2. 2
Move across the tightrope, grab three Blue Clocks, and run down the right side.
  3. 3
Jump onto the next tightrope. When a Giant Boo appears, run back to the previous platform, grab coins, and lure the Giant Boo to the left side.
  4. 4
Sprint around the Giant Boo onto the tightrope behind it and pound down. Jump onto the right platform and enter the door.
  5. 5
Alternatively, hit an invisible block above the tightrope where the Giant Boo appears. Jump onto this block, turn away from the Giant Boo, and it will position itself underneath. Jump past the Giant Boo to the right onto the tightrope.
  6. 6
Continue to the platform and enter the door.
  7. 7
Wait under the teleporting platform until it reaches the ground, then teleport to the top platform.
  8. 8
Start your run up, jump off the right edge, and grab the top of the Goal Pole for a 1-Up.

World 6-4 Walkthrough:

  1. Jump up the stairs to the first set of Beat Platforms (platforms that appear and disappear to the beat of the music). Move across as they appear.
  2. Move to the next platform and approach a Wallop. Jump so it jumps, then run around it while it recovers.
  3. Jump up the Beat Platform stairs as they appear and onto the platform above.
  4. Approach two Prongos. Position yourself in front of one so it dives. As it dives, move out of the way and stomp its underside after it lands. Repeat for the other Prongo.
  5. Hit the ? Blocks. The side ones contain a coin each, and the middle contains a Tanooki Leaf. Move up to the next platform.
  6. Move to the start of the Beat Platform stairs. Jump around a Wallop by jumping to the right of the stairs and then onto the stairs. Time your jump to land on the stairs after moving around the Wallop.
  7. Move up the first set of stairs as they appear. For the next set, wait for the yellow Beat Platform to appear and jump to it and the platform above.
  8. Hit the Checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) Flag.
  9. Jump to each Beat Platform as it appears and then to the other side.
  10. Move through the red ring and collect the first two coins. Jump to collect the higher coin, which should cause a Wallop to jump. Run around it and jump onto its platform.
  11. Collect the next two coins. The jump for the second coin should cause the next Wallop to jump. Move around it and collect the last red coin for a 1-Up.
  12. Run along the path to the next set of Beat Platforms. You can run up these as they appear, but be quick. You can skip the red one and jump to the platform above if you are slow.

Star Coin Alerts:

  • Star Coin #1: Jump just before a Wallop so it jumps. When it lands, jump on top of it. From there, jump to the platform above to grab the Star Coin. Drop back down and enter the door.
  • Star Coin #2: Wall jump off the green exterior wall to the left of the door and onto the platform above the door. Grab the Star Coin, drop down, and enter the door.
  • Star Coin #3: Move to the next set of platforms. Jump over the Spikebar whenever necessary. Jump straight to the block the Spikebar protrudes from. Tanooki Mario is helpful here for hovering. Grab the Star Coin and jump.
Tips
  • Turn on the music in World 6-4 to help time your movements with the Beat Platforms. The sequence repeats every two bars, with four beats per bar. Bar One: Beat 1 (Blue On), Beat 2 (Yellow On), Beat 3 (Red On), Beat 4 (Nothing). Bar Two: Beat 1 (Blue Off), Beat 2 (Yellow Off), Beat 3 (Red Off), Beat 4 (Nothing).
  • Tanooki Mario's ability to hover can be very helpful for accurately jumping onto platforms, especially when dealing with Spikebars.
