Find all Golden Mystery Boxes in Super Mario 3D Land. Learn how to collect Star Coins and 1-Ups in World 1, World 2, World 4, World 6, and Special World.

Golden Mystery Box List

Below is a list of every unique Golden Mystery Box that can be found in Super Mario 3D Land, with additional information on how to complete each one and how you can maximise collection of 1-Ups.

World 1

You begin on the north side of the room. Grab the two Star Coins to either side of the centre. All but the middle Toad throws out a 1-Up when touched. Touch the four outside ones then collect the 1-Ups, all before time runs out.

World 2

You begin the box on the north side. The two Star Coins are just right and just left of the centre of the box. Grab them both and then grab the Fire Flower south of you. Break the Fake Goombas for 1-Ups. There are five 1-Ups in total that you can collect. Collect as many as you can before the time runs out. They are arranged as follows:

• X = Fake Goombas that contain a 1-Up
• O = Fake Goombas that don't contain a 1-Up

World 4

You start this box in the centre. Grab the two Star Coins north-east and north-west of you. After that, hit the ? Block to your left for a Tanooki Leaf and the one to the right for a Fire Flower. Inside some of the crates are 1-Ups. Below is diagram of the crates, showing which ones contain a 1-Up and which don't.

• O = Crates that don't contain a 1-Up

World 6 (First Instance)

Grab the two Star Coins to either side of the centre of the room. There are four P-Switches in the room. Hitting one will cause a 1-Up to appear, moving towards the centre of the room. Hit each P-Switch then collect all four 1-Ups before time runs out.

World 6 (Second Instance)

Grab the two Star Coins to either side of the centre of the room. Grab the Boomerang Flower from the centre and use it to hit the cacti throughout the room. There are 1-Ups found in some of the cacti. Collect as many 1-Ups as you can before the time runs out.

Special World 1 (First Instance)

Grab the two Star Coins to either side of the centre of the room, followed by the eight 1-Ups scattered about. Grab them all before time runs out!
