Walkthrough
- 1In Part 31, hide in the south-south-west corner until only one red coin remains, then run and grab it.
- 2Grab the appearing 1-Up.
- 3A Star Coin will appear on your right as you move upwards. Time your boomerang throw to hit it. If you miss, you can use Tanooki Mario to hover back to the platform, or the White Tanooki Suit if you have it.
- 4A Sandmaargh will appear in the north-west, followed by another in the north-east. Defeat them as before.
- 5To avoid Spiked Balls, stay in the first corner to the right of the southern edge of the platform until you reach the top. Let the Spiked Balls and Giant Spiked Balls collide.
- 6Collect coins from crushed Spiked Balls at the top if available.
- 7Move north. Near the steps, four Pokies will spawn. Dodge them or defeat them if you are Boomerang Mario.
- 8At the top of the steps, enter the cannon. Aim at the center of the yellow ring and fire to reach the Goal Pole.
Tips
- Be quick to collect red coins in Part 31 to minimize dodging Spiked Balls.
- The Star Coin in Part 31 is difficult; don't worry if it takes a few tries.
- The safe corner strategy for Spiked Balls in Part 31 allows them to destroy each other.
Walkthrough
- 1Move right in World 5-2, hitting the Large ? Block and normal block for coins.
- 2Go through the door on your right.
- 3Jump over the gap with two Spinies.
- 4Proceed through the next door on your right.
- 5Fall into the pit, jump over the Spiked Poles, and exit the pit. Dodge the Spiny on the platform.
- 6Jump into the next pit, dodging Spiked Poles.
- 7Exit the room to your right.
- 8Jump onto the platform, dodging Spikebars.
- 9Star Coin Alert! #1: Jump south where a path should be to find the first Star Coin. Dodge the Spikebar when jumping back down.
- 10Take the eastern path.
- 11Star Coin Alert! #2: In the next room, hit the ? Block. If you have Fire Mario, shoot fireballs into the braziers in each corner to light them.
- 12Once all braziers are lit, the portcullis will lift. Walk through, grab the Green Clock, break crates for coins, and collect the Star Coin.
- 13Run left back to the room with three paths and take the northern path.
- 14Hit the Checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) Flag (checkpoint).
- 15Jump down the large ditch with coins, collecting them as you fall/jump from the rubber platform. Jump back out.
- 16Continue around the hole, taking the path to your right and collecting coins.
- 17Deal with the Spiny if desired.
- 18Move north and deal with the second Spiny.
- 19Move to the left side of the next edge. Lure the second Spiny to the first one if it's chasing you.
Tips
- To keep a Fire Flower, select it in your inventory and then select something else to store it before taking damage.
- The first Star Coin in World 5-2 is hidden; look for a non-existent southern path.
- You need Fire Mario to light the braziers for the second Star Coin in World 5-2.
