Your guide to the New Nimbasa City Gym in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2! Learn how to beat Beauty trainers Tesla, Fremy, and Ampere, and finally challenge Elesa.
Alright, ready to take on the next Gym? We're heading to New Nimbasa City to face Elesa. You'll find the Gym just east of the Ferris Wheel. Before you go in, make sure your Pokémon are healed up and your party is ready. When you enter, Clyde will greet you, offer some advice, and hand you a Fresh Water. To get to Elesa, you'll need to make your way across a catwalk, battling three trainers along the way.
This Gym is all about Electric-type Pokémon, so think about bringing Pokémon that resist Electric attacks or have types that are super effective against them. Avoid bringing too many Pokémon that are weak to Electric if you can help it.
Once you're set, step onto the runway. As you get close to a Gym Member, a spotlight will hit them, and they'll challenge you. The first trainer you'll face is a Beauty named Tesla.
These trainers have names inspired by famous scientists related to electricity, which is pretty cool! Nikola Tesla was a huge name in developing the AC system.

| Pokemon | Level | Type |
| Elekid | 27 | Electric |
| Flaaffy | 27 | Electric |
After you defeat Tesla, she'll walk off. Feel free to heal up if you need to before continuing. Next up is another Beauty named Fremy. She was apparently involved with discovering Fremy's Salt, used in spectroscopy!

| Pokemon | Level | Type |
| Flaaffy | 27 | Electric |
| Blitzle | 27 | Electric |
Fremy will then strut away. The last trainer before the Gym Leader is Ampere. This name honors Andre-Marie Ampere, a founder of electromagnetism, and the SI unit of electric current is named after him!

| Pokemon | Level | Type |
| Blitzle | 27 | Electric |
| Elekid | 27 | Electric |
Once Ampere is defeated, she'll leave, and you'll see Elesa, the Gym Leader. The camera will focus on her, and three spotlights will shine on her. When you're ready, head up and talk to her to start the battle.
Gym Leader Battle - Elesa
Elesa's team consists of Electric-type Pokémon. You'll be facing:
| Pokemon | Level | Type |
| Emolga | 28 | Electric/Flying |
| Flaaffy | 28 | Electric |
| Zebstrika | 30 | Electric |
This battle can be pretty tough, especially if your Pokémon are below Level 25. If you're around that level or higher and play smart, you'll have a good shot. The main challenge comes from the type matchups and Elesa's signature move, Volt Switch.
Strategy Tips:
- Ground-type Pokémon are generally your best bet against Electric-types, but they won't work against Emolga.
- Magnemite can be surprisingly effective. Its Steel typing resists most of Elesa's attacks, and you can use its Normal-type moves against her Pokémon. Just be mindful that its Steel or Electric moves won't do much damage back.
- Be cautious with Grass-types. While they're normally good against Electric, Elesa's Emolga has Aerial Ace, and Zebstrika has Flame Charge, which can hit Grass-types hard.
- Volt Switch is a pain because it deals damage and then the user switches out, potentially leaving you facing a Pokémon you're not prepared for.
- To counter Volt Switch, try to defeat Zebstrika or Emolga quickly. If you take out Zebstrika, you can use Magnemite effectively against the remaining two. If you take out Emolga, your Ground-types become much more useful.
- In the meantime, using Pokémon that are neutral to Elesa's team (like Normal-types) or have only slight disadvantages can be a good way to conserve your main attackers. Electric-types with strong Normal-type moves can also work well, as they resist Volt Switch.
- Watch out for Elesa using a Hyper Potion on her Pokémon. Zebstrika also has a Sitrus Berry that will heal it when its HP gets low.
- Consider using weaker Pokémon as
