Unlock the full potential of Keeper traits! Learn how Warlocks research, fight, and manage their unique needs to dominate your dungeon.

Alright, let's talk about Traits in Keeper, specifically focusing on the Warlock. These guys are super important early on for research, but they've got some quirks you'll need to manage.

Warlock Traits:

  • Great researchers and scavengers: They're your go-to for getting new tech unlocked fast.
  • Cannot Manufacture: Don't expect them to build anything for you.
  • Arrogant creature, gets annoyed easily: This is the big one. Keep an eye on their mood!
  • Gains (little) experience from sleeping next to a treasure room: A small perk, but don't rely on it for leveling.
  • Warlocks of level 2+ will drive out any non-Warlock/Wizard creatures from the Library while researching: This is crucial. Once they hit level 2, they'll start blasting anyone who isn't a Warlock or Wizard out of the Library. Even poor Imps just trying to get by can get caught in the crossfire.
  • Large groups of Warlocks can incite revolts spreading unhappiness in your dungeon: Too many angry Warlocks together can cause serious problems.

When you're starting out, Warlocks are absolutely essential for research. Higher-level Warlocks are the fastest researchers you'll find. But, as noted, they come with a cost. As soon as a Warlock hits level 2, they'll start using their Fireball attack to clear out the Library of anyone not a Warlock or Wizard. They're so dedicated to their research that they'll even blast Horned Reapers if they get too close and aggravated by the noise. If your Warlocks start getting angry, you've got a couple of options: try having them hang out near the Temple fountain, or just toss them some gold. Honestly, the amount doesn't seem to matter much, they just appreciate the gesture.

Beyond research, high-level Warlocks are also some of the best long-range fighters in your arsenal. While heroes like Witches, Wizards, and Fairies might be a bit easier to manage and have similar ranged attacks, they're often much harder to get your hands on. After a Warlock reaches level six, you might not even need to train them further. Personally, I don't find 'Wind' and 'Sight' abilities super useful, but 'Word-of-Power' at level ten can be quite potent for shorter-range engagements.

In the later stages of the game, Warlocks can sometimes clash with Vampires. My usual tactic? I'd pick off the Warlocks one by one, lure them to the graveyard, and then 'dispose' of them to get another Vampire from their remains. This usually settles the score, but it's not always the ideal solution for every situation.
