Alright, Helldiver! So you've been dropped into the thick of it and realized that just running and gunning isn't always the best way to survive. This guide is all about making sure you and your squad are in the right place at the right time, and that everyone knows what's going on. Communication is key, especially when friendly fire is on and the bugs are swarming!

The minimap is your best friend out there. Seriously, don't ignore it. It's not just for show; it's your primary tool for coordinating with your team when you can't rely on voice chat. Being able to quickly mark threats or objectives can save your squad from a messy situation, or even prevent a mission wipe.

Pinging Enemies and Objectives on the Minimap

Think of pinging as your way of shouting out what needs attention without actually having to yell into your mic. If you're playing with randoms, it's super easy to get separated or for everyone to focus on different things. Pinging helps keep everyone on the same page. It's the next best thing to clear voice comms, and sometimes even better because it's a direct visual cue.

Controls for Pinging and Marking Locations on the PC

If you're on PC with mouse and keyboard, it's pretty straightforward. Just look in the direction of whatever you want to point out – be it a nasty Charger, a crucial objective, or just an interesting rock – and hit the Q key. You'll see a quick ping pop up that lasts for about 6 seconds. That's usually enough time for your buddies to see it and react.

Want to leave a more permanent mark? Press Tab to bring up the full map. Then, hold down the right mouse button while you move your mouse to pan around and find the exact spot. Once you've got it, just click the left mouse button to place a marker. This marker stays put until you decide to place a new one, so you can keep track of important locations or enemy patrols.

On the PlayStation 5, it's just as easy. To do a quick ping, you'll want to press R1 + D-Pad Up. This will put a temporary marker down for your team to see.

If you want to leave a more persistent marker, open up the minimap by pressing the Touchpad. Use the joystick to navigate to the area you want to mark, and then press the Cross button to place your marker. This is super handy for designating rally points or areas to avoid.
