The Devastator is a heavily armored Automaton unit in Helldivers 2, known for its formidable firepower and resilience. Facing this hulking foe can be a significant challenge, but understanding its weaknesses and employing the right strategies will turn the tide in favor of managed democracy.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Armor: Extremely high frontal armor, making direct frontal assaults difficult.
• Weak Points: The back of the Devastator is its primary weak point. Specific glowing vents on its back are critical targets. The joints of its legs can also be targeted to slow or immobilize it.
• Weaponry: Typically equipped with a Gatling gun and rockets, capable of high damage output.

Phases:

1. Initial Engagement: The Devastator will advance, firing its Gatling gun. Its frontal armor will deflect most incoming fire.
2. Seeking Weaknesses: Players must flank the Devastator to expose its vulnerable rear armor or target leg joints.
3. Rocket Barrage: If pressured or at a certain range, it may switch to rocket deployment, requiring evasive maneuvers.
4. Destruction: Once weak points are sufficiently damaged, the Devastator can be destroyed.

Strategy:

• Flanking is Key: The most effective strategy is to get behind the Devastator. Coordinate with your squad to draw its attention while others flank.
• Explosives and Armor-Piercing: Utilize heavy explosives (like EAT-17 or Recoilless Rifle shots) aimed at the leg joints to slow or cripple it. Anti-tank weapons are also effective against its armor.
• Target Vents: If you can get a clear shot at the glowing vents on its back, these will deal critical damage.
• Stay Mobile: Do not stand still. The Devastator's Gatling gun can shred unarmored Helldivers quickly. Use cover and dodge its rocket attacks.
• Stratagems: Orbital strikes (like 380mm HE Barrage or Eagle 500kg Bomb) are highly effective at destroying or heavily damaging Devastators, especially if they can be landed accurately.
• Prioritize Threats: If multiple Devastators are present, focus fire on one at a time to reduce the incoming threat level.
