A complete walkthrough of The Salikawood in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, detailing enemy locations, treasure chests, and important items like the Chaos Mace and Gokuu Pole.

Welcome to The Salikawood, a forest environment with relatively few hostile enemies in its initial zones. This guide covers the Omen-Spur, Path of Hours, Trunkwall Road, Diverging Way, and Living Chasm areas.

The Omen-Spur:

This small area contains the hostile Pumpkin Head and the docile Wyrdhare. There are two treasures, but they contain nothing of importance. The exit to the northeast leads to the Path of Hours.

  • Pumpkin Head: Similar to Alraunes but with more skills. They use magicks like Blind, Silence, Sleep, and Poison, and can inflict Confuse with their normal attack. They also use Vespersong and Warsong to boost their powers. Weak to ice. Drops: Succulent Fruit, Storm Magicite, Handkerchief, Balance Mote. Steal: Storm Magicite, Screamroot, Black Garb. Poach: Succulent Fruit.
  • Wyrdhare: Docile creatures that may cast beneficial magicks like Cura, Regen, Protect, Shell, and Hi-Potions. If attacked, they flee and may group with other enemies. They use Vespersong, Warsong, Lunge, and Flank Attack. Weak to fire. Drops: Fine Wool, Water Magicite, Aries Gem, Loxley Bow. Steal: Water Magicite, Echo Herbs, Aries Gem. Poach: Fine Wool, Stardust.

Path of Hours:

Features a Save Crystal. The forest bungalow to the southeast contains Moogles. Continue north to Trunkwall Road.

Trunkwall Road:

A larger area with treasures and the map to The Salikawood. Head east, then north to a dead end for a Chaos Mace. A docile Sprinter is nearby. Return to the split and head south/southeast to another fork. The short path on the map contains the Salikawood map in a green urn. Continue north, then take a small path north to find a possible Gokuu Pole. Other treasures contain only consumables. Continue northeast and east to Diverging Way.

  • Sprinter: Docile Cockatrice-family enemy. Slightly higher evasion. Uses Sonic Spin and Stone Gaze (attempts to Petrify). Weak to water. Drops: Bundle of Feathers, Fire Magicite, Rime Fang, Astrakhan Hat. Steal: Bundle of Feathers, Lightning Fang, Taurus Gem. Poach: Bundle of Feathers, Chronos Tear.

Diverging Way:

Ignore the southern trail for now (contains Pumpkin Heads). Head south from the entrance, then northeast, then north-northwest to encounter a Malboro King. Continue west and south to a fork with two dead ends. The eastern dead end has a treasure with a Bastard Sword. Return north, then east to stairs leading down. At the bottom, turn around for a chest with a Ras Algethi. Double back southeast to Living Chasm.

  • Malboro King: Stronger version of Great Malboro. Uses Cloying Breath (Sleep, Slow) and Bad Breath (Blind, Poison, Slow). Weak to holy. Drops: Malboro Fruit, Dark Magicite, Vanishga Mote, Virgo Gem. Steal: Dark Magicite, Malboro Fruit, Virgo Gem. Poach: Malboro Fruit, Thorned Mace.

Living Chasm:

No enemies or treasures. Travel southeast to find a large, shut gate.
