Walkthrough for Nam-Yensa Sandsea in final fantasy xii, including how to get the Heavy Lance and defeat the Urutan Eater.
Walkthrough
- 1In The Sandscale Bank area, use the Save Crystal. Head north to find an Urutan-Yensa meeting with a Moogle. Talk to the Moogle after the Urutan-Yensa flees.
- 2Head southwest to The Urutan-Yensa Sea. Encounter Alraunes in the north, then Urutan-Yensa as you move west and south.
- 3After turning south, search a grassy patch on the eastern end. Two chests may spawn here; the easternmost one has a 20% chance to spawn and a 60% chance to contain over 1,000 Gil. The Heavy Lance has about a 6% chance to appear in this chest per zone-in.
- 4Continue south and cross a bridge to the northern end of the Withering Shores area. Follow Urutan-Yensa southwest to find them fighting the Urutan Eater.
- 5Defeat the Urutan Eater (Level 16). It has over 8,000 HP, is weak to Wind, and absorbs Earth. It can cast Blizzard, Fire, Thunder, Protect, and uses Sonic Turn (an area-of-effect attack). It may use Renew to heal itself. You can steal a Turtle Shell (55% chance), Ancient Sword (10%), or Aries Gem (3%) from it. It is listed as an “Emeralditan” in your Clan Primer.
- 6After defeating the Urutan Eater, return to The Sandscale Bank area and speak with the Moogle.
- 7Travel back to the Ogir-Yensa Sandsea, specifically the Platform 2 - Refinery area, and head east up the ramp towards where the Urutan Exile was. A scene will play, drawing your attention back west to the Nam-Yensa Sandsea.
- 8Return to The Sandscale Bank area. Witness a scene involving Urutan-Yensa and the Moogle. After the scene, pick up the “Rogue Urutan Flower“ from the beach near the Moogle. Investigate this plant to obtain Eksir Berries.
- 9Explore The Withering Shores area. You may encounter Urutan-Yensa and Danbania. There are chests with curatives. Ramps at the eastern end lead to a platform for the Demesne of the Sandqueen. The western end leads to Augur Hill.
- 10Head west to Augur Hill. Encounter Bagoly, Yensa, and Urutan-Yensa. Find chests with curatives or a Cura Mote. The western end leads to the Yensa Border Tunnel zone in the Ogir-Yensa Sandsea, which has a Gate Crystal and a merchant.
- 11Fight your way to the southwestern corner of Augur Hill to find an area transition leading to the Yellow Sands area.
Tips
- The Heavy Lance chest in The Urutan-Yensa Sea has low odds of spawning and containing the weapon. Be prepared to zone in and out multiple times.
- The Urutan Eater is weak to Wind attacks. Using a weapon like the Gladius is recommended.
- You can inflict Immobilize and Blind on the Urutan Eater, but this may cause it to use more magic. Blind can reduce the danger of its melee attacks.
- Eksir Berries are useful for a future event.
