The Chess Bishop is one of the Champions encountered in The King's Leap DLC challenge. This unique boss fight tests your parrying skills exclusively, as weapons are forbidden. Mastering its patterns is key to progressing through this gauntlet.

The King's Leap Challenge

The King's Leap is a series of mini-bosses known as the Champions, unlocked by speaking to the King of Games. These fights are designed to be overcome solely through parrying, with no weapons allowed.

The Chess Bishop's Attacks

The Chess Bishop's attacks are designed to be parried:

• Bishop Charge: The Bishop will charge across the screen. You must parry it as it approaches.
• Falling Chess Pieces: Chess pieces will fall from the sky. Some of these will be pink and can be parried.
• Laser Beam: The Bishop may fire a laser beam that travels across the screen. This is not parryable but must be dodged.

Strategy for Defeating the Bishop

Since weapons are disabled, your entire strategy must revolve around parrying:

• Focus on Timing: The key is to time your parries precisely as the Bishop or pink chess pieces reach you.
• Observe the Pattern: The Bishop's attacks are telegraphed. Learn the visual cues for its charge and the falling pieces.
• Utilize Ms. Chalice: If playing as Ms. Chalice, her dash parry ability makes this fight significantly easier, as it offers a wider parry window.
• Stay Mobile: Even without weapons, you need to move to position yourself correctly for parries and to dodge non-parryable attacks.
• Patience is Key: These fights can be long and require sustained focus. Don't get discouraged by failed attempts.

The Gauntlet

After defeating all five Champions individually, you must face them in sequence in "The Gauntlet." This requires you to win each fight consecutively without failing. The Bishop will appear as part of this sequence.
