The Head-up Display (HUD) (a heads-up display) in Metroid: Other M is essential for managing Samus's abilities and navigating the environment. It consists of several key components:

HUD Elements:

• Energy Level: Shown as a bar and a numerical value from 00-99. Running out of energy triggers an Energy Tank to open. If all Energy Tanks are depleted, the game ends.
• Energy Tank Count: Each Energy Tank holds 99 units of energy. The number of available Energy Tanks is represented by boxes beneath the energy bar.
• Charge Gauge: Filling this gauge by pressing the designated button allows you to fire Charge Beams, Super Missiles, and Power Bombs. Monitoring this meter is vital for executing Overblast and Lethal Strike maneuvers.
• Missile Count: Displays your current missile count alongside the maximum missile count you can carry.
• Minimap: Located at the top-right of the screen, this radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked) shows your surroundings. Unlocked doors appear as green bars, while locked doors are red. A yellow diamond indicates a target location. Blue blips signify unacquired items. A green "N" marks a Navigation Booth. The blue diamond shows Samus's current location, and the cone indicates her field of vision. This display changes when hanging onto ledges.
