Boss 5: Mystery Creature

Struggling with the Mystery Creature boss in Metroid: Other M? Learn its attack patterns, weak points, and the best strategy to defeat it.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Weak Point: Tail
• Primary Attack: Tail Swipe/Stab
• Secondary Attack: Bite (if tail shot missed)
• Special Condition: Cannot concentrate (Charge Shots only if no missiles)

Phases:

1. Initial Pin: The creature pins you down. You must shoot a missile at its tail before it hits you. You can still Sense Move while pinned.
2. Tail Movement: The tail initially switches sides (left/right) after one successful hit.
3. Increased Agility: After landing two missiles, the tail will switch sides once as soon as it appears.
4. Rapid Movement: The tail may move back and forth quickly, requiring close observation to find the stopping point for a shot.
5. Low Health / Anthony's Intervention: After landing eight missiles or when its health is low, Anthony intervenes with his plasma gun.

Strategy:

• When the Mystery Creature pins you, immediately target its tail and fire a missile.
• You can Sense Move even while pinned, so use it to dodge the creature's bite if you miss your tail shot.
• It's a good idea to Sense Move after every missile you fire, just in case you miss the tail.
• If you run out of missiles, you'll have to rely on Charge Shots, as you can't concentrate to fire missiles while pinned.
• Pay close attention to the tail's movement. It starts predictable, switching sides once, but becomes faster and more erratic later in the fight. Wait for it to stop moving before firing.
• Keep track of how many missiles you've landed. Once you hit eight, or its health gets critically low, Anthony will step in and finish the job for you.
• After the fight, switch to Search View and look for a patch of green blood in the grass to trigger a cutscene.
• After the cutscene, head left, enter the door, and jump down the shaft to continue following the monster.
