Explore the captivating narrative of Metroid Fusion, detailing the origins of the X Parasites, Samus Aran's near-fatal encounter, and the crucial role of Metroid cells in her survival.

The story described here is actually found in the manual. There are two versions of the "story thus far" found in the manual. I will list them both. Enjoy!

HOVERING ENERGY ORGANISM: Metroid

In Cosmic year 20X5, a Galactic Federation exploration vessel discovered an unknown organism on SR388. The hovering creature was a Metroid, an entity that exhibited frightening parasitic, energy-absorbing properties.

Some time later, gifted bounty hunter Samus Aran was dispatched alone to engage the Zebesian Space Pirates who abducted the Metroid specimen for use as a weapon. On Zebes, Samus also encountered the biomechanical Mother Brain, leader of the Space Pirates, and dispatched her in a bitter fight. From then on, Metroids were viewed as a highly dangerous life form.

Eventually, Samus Aran was sent to SR388 to exterminate the last remaining Metroids--but only after an entire Federation platoon was wiped out in an earlier attempt. At the end of her battle on SR388, one Metroid hatchling was born before Samus's eyes and it imprinted upon her as a mother figure. Samus took this larval Metroid, the last in the universe, to the Galactic Space Academy for observation and research.

This research revealed several possible applications of Metroid-based technology for the betterment of humanity. The unique energy-absorption properties of Metroids could be harnessed when they were artificially reproduced in captivity.

Just when it seemed as if peace might prevail in the galaxy, Space Pirates returned for the Metroid hatchling and took it back to Zebes. Samus followed the Pirates back to Zebes and fought to exterminate their threat and save the last Metroid.

In the final battle with Mother Brain, the hatchling saved Samus, giving up its life in the process. Samus succeeded in defeating Mother Brain, but the universe lost the promise of using Metroids for the power of good.

FROM THE JOURNAL OF SAMUS ARAN...

SR388. A vile planet, former home of the Metroids. After so many years, the remaining creatures on this planet still seemed to be trying to recreate a natural hierarchy, one without Metroids at the top.

Biologic Space Labs was hired by the Federation to observe this restructuring of the ecosystem. And because of my experience on SR388, the Federation governor for this sector hired me to provide field assistance on the planet. So, once again I found myself drawn to that forsaken rock.

The biological sample collection was going smoothly on the planet's surface when I came into contact with an organism I had never before encountered. The organism was an undiscovered, unnamed parasitic life form, which the researchers later called "X." Thinking little of it at the time, I boarded a ship and set out for the next collection point. Suddenly I felt my entire body seize up, and I lost consciousness. The ship began to drift away from planetary orbit toward an asteroid belt.

Thankfully, an auto-escape pod jettisoned me from the craft before the ship was destroyed. The researchers in the newly-constructed research station orbiting SR388 sent a shuttle to recover the pod shortly thereafter. However, in the time since my infection, the X had multiplied rapidly in my body and had even infected my Power Suit.

My heart rate and blood pressure dropped rapidly as I fell into a deep coma. The Onboard Medic Simulation predicted only a 0.873% prognosis for survival. I was transported to Galactic Federation HQ for emergency medical treatment.

The fact that my Power Suit contained biological components and was also integrally connected to my body seemed to worsen the matter. The Federation surgeons were unable to remove the suit while I was unconscious. Their only choice was to cut and remove parts of the infected suit from my still-unconscious form; immediately after, they sent the suit parts to the Biologic Space Labs research station for study.

Even with the parts removed, however, the X infection was spreading rapidly through my nervous system, and the researchers monitoring my deterioration knew of no cure...

Someone proposed a desperate treatment: create a vaccine from Metroid cells. Apparently the Federation had preserved a cell culture from the last Metroid. The scientists quickly prepared and administered the vaccine. The symptoms of the infection disappeared instantly, and all of the X parasites within me died in moments. I am still amazed by the serendipity of this result...

When I woke, the scientists told me that the hatchling had saved my life once again.

Almost immediately after I awoke, we received a distress call from the research station.

"Emergency! Explosion of unknown origin in the Quarantine Bay!"

The screams from the com receiver wer

Learn about the various enemies in Metroid Fusion, including their behaviors, weaknesses, and locations. Prepare yourself for the challenges ahead!

Alright, let's break down some of the nastier critters you'll be running into in Metroid Fusion. Knowing what you're up against is half the battle, and trust me, some of these guys are real pains if you don't know their tricks.

Enemies You'll Face:

  • Bull: These spherical enemies with stalks float around Sector 6. Watch out, they'll spew poison gas whenever you shoot them. Just keep your distance and blast 'em!
  • Choot: Found in Sector 5, these pancake-like enemies chill on the floor. When you get close, they'll jump up and float down, spitting acid as they descend. Try to blast them before they get too close.
  • Core-X: These are mutated X parasites that have absorbed DNA from powerful creatures, even containing parts of Samus's suit data. Their tough, spiky barriers can't be damaged by Beams, so you'll need Missiles to break through. Once the barrier is down, you can absorb the X to regain a lost ability!
  • Dessgeega: These guys are like the Sidehoppers but live in hot regions. The X infection has given them a nasty defense: they shoot spikes back at you when you hit them. So, be ready to dodge after you fire.
  • Evir: These Zebesian creatures are found underwater and are offspring of the Draygon, now infected by X. They're orange and can only be taken down with Charge shots. They also fire damaging spinning rocks.
  • Fune: This wall-dwelling creature from former Zebes is now on BSL. It's a green, worm-like thing that extends from walls and spits energy balls. Luckily, the X mutation has weakened it, making it vulnerable to Missiles or Charge Shots. It's thought they grow into Namihes.
  • Gadora: These are basically bio-doors blocking important areas, like boss rooms. They're giant eyes that either flash with a pupil-less eye (meaning an energy blast is coming – dodge it!) or open with a pupil (that's when you can hit them with Missiles). They usually drop Red X Parasites.
  • Geemer: You might see these spiked mollusks in vents on the Main Deck. They look a bit different than usual, and their shells are tough, but Charge Shots can get through.
  • Genesis: These weird creatures crawl in ducts above you, looking like something out of Resident Evil. Instead of attacking directly, they spit acidic mucous through the ceiling. You'll need to find a way to hit them from below or wait for an opening.
  • Geron: This is a mass of biomatter created by an X parasite, often blocking your path. Beams won't work, but Missiles are effective. Some are tougher and need more firepower. In Sector 1, some Gerons cover ventilation systems and have junk around them, but usually leave an opening to fire Missiles.
  • Geraclaw: A mutated Geruta, possibly due to a weird X infection. It has abnormal claws it uses to 'rake' you with. You'll find these mostly in Sector 3.
  • Geruta: These X-infected creatures are much larger than normal, invulnerable to Beams, and have huge metal claws. They're often found in Sector 5, which is odd given their usual habitat.
  • Halzyn: The X-infected Halzyn flies back and forth, but its wings, used as shields, are now vulnerable to explosives, though they're spiked and more dangerous. If you pass under them, they'll drop to the ground. Two Missiles to their wings will bring them down, but their body can be defeated with regular Beam shots.
  • Hard Core-X: These are tougher Core-X variants with barriers that are usually impenetrable. The barrier opens like an eye to mimic Beam shots. You can hit this eye with Missiles, but be ready to dodge its retaliation immediately. After enough hits, the barrier breaks, and you can absorb the X.
  • Hornoad: An X parasite has infested this amphibious, two-legged creature. The parasite has mutated its appearance... (the source text cuts off here).

Keep an eye out for these foes, learn their patterns, and you'll make it through!

Detailed walkthroughs for every boss in Metroid Fusion, including Arachnus, Zazabi, Serris, B.O.X., Varia Core-X, Yakuza, Nettori, and Nightmare.

Walkthrough:

  1. Arachnus

A Core-X has taken the DNA of an Arachnus and is rampaging in the Main Deck. Arachnus-X attacks with blue energy waves, fire spread along the floor, and by rolling into a ball to ram walls. Hang from ledges to dodge the fire. Be careful, as rolling into a wall can knock you off. Shoot Arachnus-X with Beams or Missiles. After it's defeated, its Core-X form can be taken down with three Missiles.

  2. Zazabi

A creature of unknown origin, copied by a Core-X. This transparent-skinned, single-eyed, tower-shaped creature jumps to stomp Samus and tries to swallow her. If swallowed, Bomb yourself out. Shoot Missiles up through its opening to hit its eye. As Zazabi takes damage, it shrinks until killed. The Core-X inside takes four Missiles to break its barrier.

  3. Serris

An eel found in Sector 4 that swims at extremely high speeds, encased in energy and invulnerable. When not speeding, shoot Missiles at its head. Stay on platforms above the water and grab handlebars when Serris heads towards you. The Core-X inside takes five Missiles.

  4. B.O.X.

A security robot created by B.S.L. scientists. It deploys fire bombs that spread fire towers. Samus first encounters it in Sector 3 after getting the Super Missile upgrade. B.O.X.'s weakness is its tan-painted center, attacked from above. After enough damage, it staggers away and blasts through the ceiling.

Later, in Sector 6, B.O.X. is in a semi-flooded room. Its damaged circuitry is electrified by the water. Use a Power Bomb to reveal ceiling handlebars, allowing you to hit its weak spot with Missiles. B.O.X. uses its body as a weapon and fires homing rockets. After enough damage, the robot body is destroyed, revealing a Hard Core-X. Five or six Missiles to its eye when open will defeat it.

  5. Varia Core-X

A Core-X that absorbed the Varia Suit data, mutating and growing. It is surrounded by smaller, protective versions of itself and attacks by ramming. It is invulnerable to Missiles; use Charge Beam attacks. The protective orbs can be permanently destroyed. Once enough damage is dealt, it reverts to normal, vulnerable to six Missiles to break its barrier.

  6. Yakuza

A spider boss faced at the Reactor Core in the Main Deck. It breathes fire, crawls, and can grab Samus, causing damage and ramming her. Damage Yakuza by Missiling its mouth when it opens for its fire-breathing attack. After enough damage, its head explodes, and it
