Master the Adept class in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition (ME1) with our comprehensive build guide. Focus on Biotics, armor, and talent choices for ultimate power.

The Adept class in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition focuses on pure Biotics, making it the game's equivalent of a "Mage." While limited to Light Armor, Adepts excel at disabling foes with abilities like Lift, Singularity, and Throw. Barrier provides essential defense, and the class is highly enjoyable to play.

A significant improvement in the Legendary Edition is the expanded weapon system, allowing Adepts to effectively use Sniper Rifles and Assault Rifles for ranged combat, despite not having access to their specific talents.

Adept Bonus Talent

If you've unlocked relevant Achievements/Trophies, you can assign a Bonus Talent during Character Creation. While many useful talents are inherent to the Adept, Hacking and Electronics are the primary choices. Electronics is generally preferred due to the Adept's existing strengths and the added benefit of the Overload talent against synthetic enemies.

  • Hacking: Grants the AI Hacking talent, allowing you to temporarily turn Geth units to your side. Useful in specific encounters but less broadly applicable than other options.
  • Electronics: Provides a bonus to shields and the Overload talent, which is highly effective against synthetic opponents. This choice enhances the Adept's defensive capabilities and offensive options against common enemy types.

Weapon Talents

The Adept class has limited weapon talent options, primarily restricted to Pistols. While the Marksman talent received a buff in the Legendary Edition, it doesn't compare to the power of Biotics. Most of an Adept's combat effectiveness with weapons will come from using them without specialized talents.

Other Talents

The base Adept talent is crucial for reducing Biotic ability cooldowns and should be a primary focus, ideally maxed by Level 11. Invest early points into Lift and Singularity, then progress towards Barrier to unlock Stasis. Charm or Intimidate can also be useful investments.

Basic Armor is the least effective armor talent but unlocks Pistols and the Marksman talent. Throw is useful but only requires enough investment to unlock Lift, as Lift and Singularity are more potent disabling abilities.

Adept Specialization

After completing the Assignment UNC: Rogue VI, you can evolve the Adept Talent into either Bastion or Nemesis.

  • Nemesis: Offers increased damage to Throw and duration to Warp.
  • Bastion: Provides greater reductions to all Biotics and enhances Barrier and Stasis. Barrier gains shield regeneration, and Stasis becomes an offensive ability allowing damage to enemies within it. Bastion is generally the superior choice.

Spectre Training

Upon unlocking Spectre Training, invest a point immediately for a 5% health boost. Consider advancing this talent further only after maxing more critical abilities.
